What am I missing here? 76 Porsche 911 priced like it's 1999 again.

$15,000 with 5 hours to go ? TIA and apologies for the trollish headline - I'd like an air cooled but not experienced enough to know the ropes especially when there is too good to be true pricing.

Unless Trump drove it, the NYT does not care.

If you want an aircooled car and you're coming from a water cooled turbo.... I'd suggest you start with a good one, like a 87-89 carrera with good service history. Maybe even something with a mild hot rod build if you don't need it to be comfortable. The 76 911 is arguably one of the worst 911s ever made, and their prices eclipsing the SC is an affront to common sense.

Will be interesting to see where it finishes, but to me there is a lot left unsaid, like engine rebuild, suspension condition, rust, etc. Why no photos of the battery area? “Horn added to engine bay”? Like an alarm?
It feels like it is going to need a lot of work that is being concealed or at least not mentioned.

No love for the middie. I thought it wasn't bad, good project for someone.

I think they did very well for a 75 with 175,000 miles that has oil leaks, injector issue, ignition modified to points (backwards) , worn seats and a horn in the engine compartment.
In one of the photos the CV boot is popping off and it looks like the shock colors are different front to rear.
Reserve should have been in the low 20's

Thanks all. Knowing 911r - I'd assume his top bid was probably the right price for this car.
At least 8 others thought otherwise.

okay let me tell you what i observed .. not that you guys would be interested .. but what the hell..
probably many people stayed away due to the unknown , and on a middie that could be substantial .. but ..
it had sport seats , need some work but can be made presentable very easily, even the headliner and sun visors are minor.
Under body was intact with no rust so likely this was not a shined up turd, the paint job looks very decent
The car has an upgraded fan for engine cooling , although i did not see evidence of an external cooler that would have been nice. Reactors have been removed if it had them so thats a plus
the car has updated tensioners which tells me whoever had this car new about the issues and upgraded it to carrera tensioners which is great . This caused me to look further.
if you look at the sealing along the lower case it is obvious this case has been split , this tells me inserts have likely been done and the dreaded stud pulling issue has been mitigated,
I think this car would have been a good gamble at 25.
