Default tool kit

I have several took kits.
I cannot remember which one is for 1986 coupe
can someone help me out and post pic of what the ORIGINAL kit looks like (NOT the new stuff from porsche classic but the one that came with the car back in 1986)
TIA

I don't have a photo of the black roll-up bag, but these are the contents from my '85. I can't guarantee it is 100% original, but most of the tools are marked West Germany, which is a good sign. I've owned it since 1996. Also, the tools all fit well in the slots in the roll-up bag, suggesting that I'm not missing any or have any extras. I notice the 11-13mm wrench does not match, and I think I remember noticing it being probably swapped in from a Mercedes kit.

the new tool kits from Porsche are a joke, both the replacement and the classic kit. (although we sell many of them, because they are better than nothing and relatively inexpensive

Can you confirm whether or not they are original? I can see that they (you're talking about the "channellock" pliers, right) would be a likely item to be swiped whenever a car is sold, as they are high quality and more general purpose than many of the tools in the kit.

These are marked "300 HEYCO W GERMANY." As with my Knipex pliers, I believe the 300 indicates the overall length of the tool in mm.

I think that spark plug socket is my favorite OEM tool kit tool I've ever seen.

Good to know. Can you confirm that tool kit is exact? I notice the fuses in there too. I'm guessing as the original owner it is.

BTW - in your sig - I used to live in Hermosa Beach, back in the day, a stone's throw from the Hermosa Beach Yacht Club. Is that still there? Would not be surprised if that quote was taken from there, but unfortunately I lived there a little before televised car chases became a big thing.

There are different tools in the kit depending on if its a coupe, cab, targa, electric seats etc. Pipe grips are a no, 100%, there should be a bag and gloves also (for changing wheel) spare fuses and a fan belt, other than that you look complete!

Great info here. Something I've always wondered ...

Many of my favorite non-Porsche tools are made in the USA by Klein Tools, USA. High quality tools, for professionals since 1857. https://www.kleintools.com/

Some of the tools in the Porsche kit, including the famous spark plug socket, are labeled KLEIN. Is that the same company, or just a common German name?
