Porsche Production Specification (New COA) With No Engine or Transmission Numbers
Has anyone gotten a PPS back that just lists the engine type and transmission type but not the specific numbers for them? This one is one for a car at a dealer and I thought it was a little strange.
Could the owner have purposefully asked to have the numbers left off? Thanks! |
The rules changed with COA's due to fraud. When you request the COA you have to provide these numbers and they will confirm if they match or not (they will also print them on the certificate). The problem before is the COA would give this info and people were fudging the numbers on the cases to match.

I wonder if this one is like this because the numbers didn't match or if maybe the owner just never gave them the numbers to compare...hmmm. |
^it is like this because they either didn't match or weren't provided. It is worth a shot to provide the numbers and see what happens, but these certificates take several weeks so I doubt you would get it back quickly enough to influence your buying decision.

The rules have changed again. The PPS will no longer show engine and transmission numbers. The only way to get those is to obtain a Classic Technical Certificate (CTC), which requires a dealer inspection and costs $500.
See this thread: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsc...s-now-ctc.html And here for the Porsche explanation of the change (about halfway down the page): https://www.porsche.com/usa/accessor...leinformation/ Here are the CTC details, including the cost: https://www.porsche.com/usa/accessor...alcertificate/ Mark |
