Help - Momo Steering Wheel Hub Problem, Too Far from Controls - 1970 911E
Hi All,
I bought a new MOMO Prototipo steering wheel and hub from Pelican Parts for my 1970 911E.
Once I removed the OEM wheel and installed the hub and MOMO wheel, it made the new wheel really far from the turn signals, etc. You have to practically take your hand off the wheel to reach them. FWIW, I have normal sized man hands
I double checked to make sure install was correct, and that I had ordered all of the correct part numbers. I've contacted Pelican as well. They said that's the correct one (only one Momo makes for those years now).
Momo Hub Adapter for Porsche 356 1958-65, 911/912 1965-73, 914-6 to-1971
Part #: MO-0230 https://www.pelicanparts.com/cgi-bin...iption=MO-0230
The hub is about 3" deep (see photos).
My local P car mechanic and Pelican seem to think MOMO used to make a couple different hub sizes...but now they only list one.
So question is...I see a lot of early 911's with MOMO wheels. Are people just living with the strange fitment distance?
Or is there some other hub for this?
Thanks!

The car is at my shop and not home right now but I'm sure I have the same hub as you. I've got similar wheels on both my 914's and their hubs are also approximately the same depth. I do know JW Engineering (same guy that makes rennshift) has different hubs for Momo wheels- you might want to check him out.

Car-bone makes custom ones also. I had them make a custom colored one for me to match my car and it is really cool and the price wasn't bad either. I have the one you asked about in the above picture extra. Will let it go for cheap if you are interested.

Back to the original post I found this pic from my '79. I actually added an additional spacer to get the wheel closer to me. Dont have any issues with the distance of the levers. I was wondering if your earlier car had a different stalk set up or something.

Here's my current OEM setup. The stalks don't angle out like your 79.
I'll be at Luft this weekend...I'll have a chance to do some good recon on other cars

I took a visual survey at Luft 6...I noticed there were a few cars that had the newer hub like I do, they must just be living with the increased distance to the controls.
And there were some that had older looking shorter hubs.
And some of the really custom modded cars (i.e. Singer) had modified turn signal stalks etc that angle them closer to the aftermarket steering wheel.
