Steve Wong Chip Upgrade Advice - 87’ 3.2
Hey all. I’m getting a bit of work done to the 87’ i recently picked up. There’s a full service being done as well as suspension work. While I have the car in the shop, I’ve been researching the SW chip. I’ve read a lot of great reviews. Downside is most of these are from years ago. Has anyone recently installed and had some success stories? His shop is local to me so I’m debating slapping one on.
any tips on optimizing use of the upgrade? (it’ll be a stock install no bypass pipe etc atm)
i will be using mine as a daily for a bit. I’m not an aggressive driver but I do like to have access to quicker throttle and power when I need it here in these LA streets.
Happy sunday!

My 89 currently has one. Its does wake the car up quite a bit. Even more with the cat bypass. When I did my smog check I put the stock chip and cat back on, the car felt kinda lazy (and my motor is really strong). Put just chip back in and woke it up. With the bypass on it's noticeably quicker. Those old cats (and mine works perfectly) were so restrictive...

I had a Steve Wong chip in my 89 when it was a 3.2 along with an MK cat bypass , it's a really nice combination !
The MK unit is a real piece of art and the O2 sensor bung picks up both exaust banks , unlike the other manufacturers ...
