Should I get this 2005 911 or will i regret it?
I was looking for a blue 911, and came across this 2005 3.6L RWD 911 Carrrra for about 23k. Was interested in getting other's opinions if I should give this car a buy. It looks fairly clean some minor bumper damage and busted aftermarket radio, but otherwise runs decent.
I can afford a bit newer model, but I always wanted a 911 when I was a kiddo at dealerships and such I'd sit in them in the late 80s and early 90s. Anyone have access to in depth vehicle history / carfax. Bit curious what the dealership paid for the car at auction, and want to know if any thing I should specifically look at or ask about prior to buying it given that I know very little about cars in general. I basically want the car to drive around and have some fun, and to start learning about Porsche and maybe do some of the minor maintenance myself. So if anyone can do me a favor and look up the VIN. The VIN is : WP0CA29935S650072 Also, anyone know what specific model carseat can fit in this, or they all do? I have a Chico evenflow will that fit? |
31 views, and nobody can respond :( I may cry myself to sleep later.

Instead of crying you should post in the 997 section of the forum. This is the aircooled 911 section. Further, you should read through that section to ensure you're comfortable with the potential engine issues of these models. I had a 2005 and ultimately was not. Finally, if you can afford a Porsche you can afford the Carfax.

Post in the liquid cooled section.
The car was just sold in sept 2018 and now being offered for sale again 83k miles and a convertible no service records vins clean I think 4 owners I personally would not buy it. Buy the best one you can afford spend that money upfront trust me |
I wouldn't drive that car with a child in a carseat.
I use my gx460 for that When he gets bigger that's fine |
sure - get it - you can use it as a parts runner for your 911 restoration project

The issues I was reading don't seem a big deal. What was the major issue you got turned off by?
I'd rather mechanical issues than the newer ones with electronic sensor issues galore... |

On what basis? Safety? I'm not concerned about the safety issue driving around in a rural suburban area in broad daylight.
Keep in mind I live in NYC |

I believe vin indicates its early 2005 try to get a 06 plus Buy the best you can afford 30-35k should buy a much better car. Check on pca with service records It will be cheaper in the long run |
I also checked manheim. To see if it was auctioned through there. It wasebt
If it was sold at auction my guess would be 19k |
It's just so darn hard to get blue... I was actually looking for cars in the range of 2005 to 2010... There are just so few manual, and in blue. And to top it off this car is local near me, so save a grand basically by virtue of that.
This car will have basically minimal depreciation I figure, and even if it needs say 5-8k to put into it it'll still be under 30k... I basically just want a starter Porsche and a Porsche that won't depreciate, and that won't set off my OCD in terms of keeping it perfect and not enjoying it. When it bottoms out on a curb, I won't feel bad for a week with this car I figure. Otherwise I'd have gotten a Porsche that's maybe 3 years old... |
Like they said, go over to the 997 section. Nice helpful people there (just like this section). Maybe check out the 996’s too. TC |

Its very easy to spend 10k on work Color I completely understand. I'd look for a little and get something with less vague of a history Or if your really stuck on this car have it inspected by porsche or privaTe ppi |
