84 Carerra 3.2 Tire Recommendations
Brand new owner of an 84 Carrera 3.2 Targa. The car isn't in great shape, but tires are the priority and I'm hoping for some recommendations based on driving description below.
(I realize there are other similar forums, but I have different set of criteria i.e. no track days, tight budget)
Thanks,
H

- Tight budget
- Brand new to stick/rear engine driving
- CT/New England - 95% Dry - Spring/Summer/Fall driving
- No track days, but will push the car a little on on twistys
- Car isn't in fantastic shape, so a tire that helps take a little bit of the edge off while still feeling a little sporty
- Not sure what size Fuchs I have
Thanks,
H

+1 for tire rack. Michelins all the way are worth the money.
When we got our car (1991!) it had snow tires on it which are about half the price. A good way to take off some performance too...
FYI the Lugnuts are light Alloy And easily molested by standard tools if you're not careful. I have the special vinyl socket if you want to borrow it

Continental Extreme Contact Sport. Best tires out there currently. They cost a bit less than the Michelins, which is weirding people out. Put your concerns aside. They stick in dry and perform well in the wet.
