Car Bag and Winter Storage
Question for everyone who stores their car for the winter.
This is my first year with my SC and I've found a unheated private garage to store the car for the winter for a great price. I've read up on all of the steps to take, oil, air in the tires, fuel stabilizer, close vents, don't park right on the floor ect.
The one thing that I'm still worried about is moisture. Would it be wise to get something like http://carbag.com/ and put the car in that in the unheated garage? Does anyone have good or bad experience with this solution?
I'm also just wondering if I should pay more and find an underground spot in a condo that is at least warmer.
Thanks for any help.

I store mine in an unheated facility. Through winter humidity tends to be frighteningly low here and causes peoples fingers to crack open. Not an issue. I just pull the battery after putting in stabilizer.
Been doing it 10 years.

No, don't use a bag!
A heat source would be better, as after a decade or so of winters in unheated spaces you may find rust/corrosion in some spots.
If it gets cold once and stays cold that is better than fluctuations around freezing temperatures - the former situation will dry the air out.
Google the term "condensing atmosphere"

I've stored mine in an unheated race trailer for years. No problems.

A heater is bad , don't use one. Put it in cold storage like your garage or another place, concrete is fine through winter. Pull it out in April and drive it.
Underground would be okay too

Depending on your location, you may want to also consider dryer sheets in the car and around it to keep the critters from enjoying your wiring for dinner.

Has anyone used these in mild winter areas, where snow and humidity are not an issue? I have my car under a car tent, but the car gets real dirty sitting there between weekly drives. Do they work well and are they easy to open and close? Is there an opening for a trickle charger cord?

I'd use a good cover or two - one soft with a Goretex one on top - Car bags are often made of plastics which will outgas plasticizers - many (older) photographers have discovered the dangers of such plastic after their negs & slides were ruined.
In a cold, dry climate like Denver a cold garage will be fine. In a wet area where the temp. cycles above and below the point where water vapor condenses you will eventually get corrosion. My photo won't upload, but it is blood-curdling anyway...

I have my SC and 997 in a 16ft car capsule (http://carcapsule.com/carcapsule-16-indoor/). When I purchased them a few years ago, I called them and told them the 14ft version shows a 997.2 in it, but the 997 is about 14.5 ft, so it won't fit. That was two years ago and the 14ft version still shows a 997.2 in the capsule with room to spare at each end.
I purchased these mainly to prevent rodents from getting to the cars. I am happy with "bagging" the cars during long periods of non-use.
