Ive always heard that a car like this is worth what you could sell the engine and transmission for
So ...,,......

I would think it's not worth very much. It would cost way more than it's worth to source a drive train and do a total restoration. Do you have any documentation on the dealer installed parts, because it's easy to be skeptical when the bumper covers are clearly the wrong vintage for the car. You have a body tub, a dashboard, and *hopefully* a set of 930 brakes. If there's no rust, maybe $5-10k for a savvy buyer. You can always wait to find an idiot who will pay more. Likely someone willing to pay more is trying to do something shady with the vin & title, not necessarily restoring what you have left there.

Then auction it..... That will tell you what its worth. 930s have been on a decline the last 6 months or so. Bring a trailer auctions have been stalling in the $60k range lately, for nice but "nothing special examples". I cant see someone spending $30k for a tub, $40k for a drive train, and $40k for a restoration to end up with a $70k car, can you? Like I said, there's a sucker born every day. List it for what you think it's worth and see how much email traffic you get. That will tell you how close you are to the real value.

Personally, I would charge you to leave that eyesore at my house........

So, now we agree that the value is somewhere between $10 and $30k.... Correct? Seems like your window for a start on your asking price. Does it still have the brakes? That will matter. Unfortunately, another indicator of the value is that no one is beating down your door on your threads trying to get you to cut it loose. I'm afraid this one will take some patience to sell. Good luck with the sale!

yes i agree it should fall somewhere in the middle. It does still have breaks and all the suspension. And the slant nose is steel.

Are people taking quality rollers like that and converting them to electric ... yet? If not, I can see that happening at some point.

I would not charge you to leave it at my house. I think it looks pretty cool.

Quality non-factory 930 slantnose builds with 5-speeds and twin-spark engines tend to sell for around 80. Sourcing an engine, transmission, installation and tuning are gonna be like 50K. Then repaint 15K. Then interior work.... I would say it's worth maybe 5-10K as it sits.

It would also make a decent base for an outlaw build that's more to the tastes of the current market.

Yes when you look at the cost of what the end product would be worth and then work backwards on what it would cost to get there it does not leave much of a value. Of course lots of guys are willing to put way more into a project car than what it will ultimately be worth. You find the right buyer and maybe he pays what you are hoping. The 5-10k estimate sounds more reasonable though.

Honestly if it were me, with the homologation of different parts, would you consider parting it out? If the slant nose fenders are genuine and it has brakes/suspension as you say, I see several grand in parts before you even sell the widebody tub (which should fetch 10k+).

If you have time to wait for the perfect buyer, you might do better to part it out, instead of hoping someone comes along hoping for that exact project.
