Two questions:
a) Are the brakes on the 87-89 larger (it didn't sound like it was answered definitively)
b) What's the overall weight difference between the 87 and the 84-86
Thanks!
Edward

I believe the rotors are the same size 84 - 89, as all of the aftermarket rotors I've seen fit the entire life of the carrera 3.2
I have a Europroducts chip in my 911, soon to go b/c stock F class does not allow changing the chip- just curious of when they changed the chip configuration - What size fuchs do you have G-50cab? I have a set of 7x9x16's on the way for my coupe'.
If you'd like to parage down to Sebring for the next track event, send me a message.

Also, I believe the weight difference (although I've seen many numbers), is about 70 lbs with the same options as the earlier car. The G-50 has a hydrolic clutch, which is where some of the extra weight comes from.
Also,as the cars became newer, many came with more "creature features", ultimately making the cars heavier.

I have 8 x 16 (951) fronts and 9 x 16 rears polished by Al Reed.
And they changed from 24 pin dme to 28 pin dme in 1987.
And yes, I need to do a track event - need a rollbar - have been doing a few Autocrosses - one coming up this weekend.

Nope 951 offset works fine - Porsche Part # 951 362 117 00 16 x 8 Fuchs
I have them on 225/50/16's and had to slightly roll the front fender on the driver's side. I have heard of some going to a 225/45/16 and reduce the rolling radius a little. But I didn't have issues.
I probably need to lower my car a little too - but it is a cab and really don't want to increase the size of the torsion bars at this point.
Sorry for the big picture - but this one shows the profile:

I've an '89 and there's one more thing that changed.
The fuel (gas) filler and wheel arch
In the UK 911's do seem to rot quite badly (rock salt in winter).
Porsche must have recognised this and modded the filler. Instead of having a steel bucket with the flap hinge welded on they replaced it with a trick plastic bucket and modded flap.
They also rolled the arch. I'm no expert but I reckon a 7x16 fuchs will go straight on.
I've not examined an '89 964 but I reckon porsche just got proacvtive and used advanced bits and put 'em on 'run out' 3.2's. And why not?
