Hi, I have a question about steering wheel im 911t 1971. My steering wheel was no oryginał, do I bought new. After that I have a 2 cm between dashboard and steering wheel. Is it normal or should be more? I would like to leave the car like oryginał( no adapter for steering wheel). Is it possibile?

is this a T wheel or a 914 wheel? Do you have the part number on the wheel?

p/n is stamped on the center face of the wheel

e.g. the following are 380mm wheels:
ST/R/RS/RSR & 914 STEERING WHEELS
914 347 803 10: 70/71 914-4 plastic base for original ST/R/RS/RSR
914 347 804 10: early 4s, flat hub/sunk hub
914 347 804 11: late 4s, sunk hub/flat back – plastic rim
914 347 805 10: early 4s & 6s, leather, flat hub/recessed back (best)
914 347 805 11: ’72 914-4 w/ 90 degree sunk hub/flat back 86mm grip 914-4; I have this one
914 347 806 10: Leather -6 Original RS wheel w/ 72mm grip
914 347 806 11: 91mm grip
914 347 088 10: very early VW/Porsche leather wheel
914 347 809 00: ‘74 914s, sunk hub/ faux leather -914 347 809 00 .... 1974 and later 914/4

That is pretty close spacing. Do you bash your knuckles when you steer? If not, I guess it's OK. But why didn't you just buy an original steering wheel for an early LWB 911? They are not hard to find.

I do not see the part number on wheel. I bought steering wheel from this site:

I also have an aftermarket wheel, mine is from here, probably same maker (VDM), I really like the wheel, its a thicker wrap, 380mm size, but sat too close to the dash:

Get this spacer, this is fantastic on the car, I have this:

there are cost and/or effort penalties for some steering wheels, despite the tangy pleasures of the one above

"I would like to leave the car like oryginał( no adapter for steering wheel)." Yes, that is possible, but you will need a wheel with more "dish" and it appears that a Momo is out from your post.

I dunno which stock or stock looking wheel would have more dish.

Stock wheels existed in various sizes up to 400mm (or maybe larger). People like wheels as small as 350mm (usually for racing). I don't have the different sizes of stock wheels right at my fingertips (so to speak) but they do vary. If you are set on a stock wheel, and if a smaller dia. gives you the low speed (parking) torque you need then that might be an option.

I have 4 or 5 wheels and gear shift ***** and rotate them periodically.
