Default Request for help looking for updates on SC

Hello -

This forum has been great helping me spot changes to G-series cars in the past. I'm currently looking at this SC on ebay and was wondering what the experts on here might spot as updates or modifications from the original. Any and all opinions are welcomed... you guys have been an amazing source of information in the past and any advice you can give is greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

The SC

Only thing that sticks out in the pictures to me is the picture from the underside that shows the rear lift pads crushing the lines. That is concerning. Strange they choose to lift the car from that point. You may want to ask for some follow up pictures for damage if you intend to bid.

One of the underside photos seems to show a line of oil drips along the right side rear trailing arm, maybe even extending to the brake backing plate. The oil sump drain plug is aligned with the case seam. That means the oil sump screen was never updated (not a huge deal, you can do that easily). Maybe some rust peaking out from under the rubber door sill at the base of the passenger-side door lock post? Surprised to see the air pump and EGR all hooked up, but as a CA car I guess it has to be. Why would the only photo of the frunk have the carpeting in place? Kind of useless, would be nice to get a shot of the battery area at least. Doesn't look like it has oil-fed chain tensioners.

Looks like a nice clean car. Getting up there in price, though.

If we're talking about the center vents, I'm not so sure. They look like the stock early SC vents. Mine are identical, and my car came without factory AC.

I think by 1982 they changed. Here are my 1979:

They are broken and I need to find replacements.

She looks great! The AC is the old R12. I upgraded mine and converted it with a Griffith’s system with the additional wheel well condenser. All said and don it was around $5;000. ask if the headstuds have been replaced, it has the chain tensioner upgrade and if it has a pop off valve on the air box. All stuff you want done.

I just drove my 400 miles this weekend round trip to meet a college buddy bicycling across the US. My speedo only goes up to 85, so I had to use an app to see how fast i was going. In 5th 4,000 RPM was 95, 4,500 was 105 and 5,000 was 115 and she was happy as a clam!

Looks like a nice clean SC, I would have someone check over the repaint in person since the photos might not detect any flaws and I wonder why it had a repaint with under 70,000 miles on the odometer unless the speedometer was swapped..

I also noticed the heater flapper boxes were a bit rusty.

Looks like a nice clean SC.

Good luck !

Thanks everybody. This was great. Going to follow up on all of these points before I move forward with a bid.

No problem. I just noticed the AC vents under your dash. What are those, part of an aftermarket system?

That's not actually my dash, but I have those vents. Got them from Griffths. Work great for getting more air volumn. https://griffiths.com/products/porsc...911-930/vents/
