Default Which Brake Pads for Street?

For the first season in 5 years, the 911 won't be doing track duty, which means I'm dying to switch out my track pads for some performance street pads that have better cold bite and don't squeal!

Curious what other members have used and are happy with on the street. I don't want to use Hawk because they dust like crazy in my experience.

What do you use, and where do you buy them from?

I use Mintex "red box" pads for the street in my '84 911. Love them; very good stopping power, little dust and they wear like steel!

I got mine from Steve Weiner out in Portland. Another option is to call Paul Weston in Florida. He advertises in Pano and can hook you up with some excellent street pads.

Probably not popular but why not just go OEM?

Good point. OEM pads work very well on the street, but in my experience generate more dust than I care to deal with...YMMV.

You obviously use a different OEM pad than has been my experience. Full disclosure: I have not used OEM pads on my 911 in many years, so compounds could have been improved.

FWIW I have porderfield R4S on my carrera, and frankly, i don't like them very much. they modulate and stop fine, minimal dust, but they don't have the bite I want, even warm. eventually will swap out for something else...

I used PBR's on my old 911S. They were great pads! Bummer that they are no longer around.

I'll check 'em out! Failing that, may just give oem pads a go.

Anyone used EBC pads? Been reading up on "red stuff" and seeing mixed reviews.
