Maybe if want a bit more detail and less visual mass to the look you could pattern some holes in the side plates or cut in some triangles so they look like a truss structure

i may not be explaining it well

if you have a dxf of the outline I can fill it in and can laser cut some if you are interested

we have several gauges of polished and brushed stainless and smooth aluminum on hand

Im designing a roof track tire rack for my 964 that will have a similar look

I haven't abandoned this just haven't had time to work on it..... The center of this is mostly hollow. Behind the hatched line area. If I open a portion of this up (on the sides) you will also see the attachment bolts.
Great idea though.

Being an engineer I love your suggestion.....

I just do not see where there would be any room to pull this off.

That is a really nice comment........ I appreciate it. One rolled up on a cars and coffee event a couple months back. I was there with
several other Porsche guys. There was a large consensus of that exact same comment. Plus mine was done for a lot less. A whole
lot less.

Well I've finished a big project. The mirrors are installed. So long flag mirrors..... The transformation is my take on a singer styled mirror. Using a Talbot styled mirror on
a custom short billet arm (drilled of course). The arm is attached to a triangular aluminum plate that attaches to the 1/4 glass. Powder coated finish.

Thank you Magnus for the inspiration to use your shield decals in a unique way. They are mounted on .3 mm lexan. Then affixed to the car. Dual purpose. They look cool and hide the flag mirror holes for now.
