Default 911 T has two batteries, do I need to charge both?

This may be a dumb question but I just wanted to ask. My buddy has his 1970 911T and the batteries are dead. We were going to try to tune the carbs for the high altitude of Colorado but the batteries were dead.
He got it started by popping the clutch down a hill, then drove a bit and it died in the middle of street. Now we just want to make sure they are charged.
Should he have two trickle charges going at all times?
Thanks guys!

Not at all times surely. I charge over the winter only
I thought these were connected in parallel so while in the car both would charge

Not 100% tho

They are in parallel. Charge one and you'll end up charging both, it will just take longer. This is from the PCA tech pages:

The amusing thing about this post, from Boulder this past Saturday, was the spectacularly poor timing of this DIY project, with the first major snowstorm of this winter coming in that evening. One hopes they eventually got the car out of the middle of the street and under cover.

Thought so Mark but did not want to put it out there until i could confirm.
They are half size batteries anyway so I imagine time would be close
Don't fancy looking for replacements though
Cant imagine they are super easy to find
Out of curiosity did the dual battery disappear with the long hood ? 74ish ?

I think so. I didn't know the answer to Matt's question either, but I was curious so after waiting a bit I started to search.

I also came across posts on how to replace them. Seems like some people use dual Miata batteries, which are small. I imagine the Odyssey batteries work fine too. Or securely tape up the passenger side ground and run with just the single drivers side. I think that's a tight squeeze for a conventional battery though.

Replacement Porsche OEM dual batteries are readily available from Porsche, part 99961101491, and are heavily discounted by many of the standard suppliers. They are shipped without acid, which you can buy for pennies at Autozone, etc.
