Default Engine dies - so where to look...?

911s 1974 2.7

After fixed the last vacuum leak in my intake the engine is now running very good – according to my ears…no coughing and backfire.

…but that is after cranking the engine pretty long time and then around half a minute to one after it’s starts, it’s just dies. Even tough I control the throttle manually and let it revs high during testing.

If I adjust the air/fuel mixture screw clockwise, it seems to run a little longer.

The fuel distributor (0438 100 004) is just rebuilded and seems to be working fine, but overall it’s seems to be a fuel delivery issue. Not sure it this may be a WUR related problem (my WUR 0 438 140 008)

I also just remembered that from an earlier diagnose of the engine that the compression of two of the cylinders where not good. Could this cause that the engine dies ?

Have new fuel filters, fuelpump and injectors.

Please advise
Thanks.

Hi,

I would start the troubleshooting process with a set of CIS gauges so you can see your system & control pressures before anything else.

Good idea. Do you know where I can find documentation of the pressure values ?

Regarding WUR, I hope there are alternatives for my -74 if it comes to that I need to acquire one. I believe there are 3 different warm up regulators which do not have vacuum: 911.606.103.00, 911.110.927.00, and 911.606.103.01.

Anybody know if these can used ?
