Best sounding exhaust for the 1980 911sc 3.0L

I would like a nice throaty sound, without too much noise under normal driving for my 1980 911sc 3.0L Wide open it can be quite loud and fun.

Look at M&K, Brian can add baffles if you feel it is loud. I have 2 in / 2 out.

Do you care about the cars performance or does the sound count more?

Nothing beats Dansk for best power without annoying drone.

I have SSI's with Dansk on my '74. Great sound and noticeable performance.

Steve is spot on of his assessment of the Dansk exhaust system on an air-cooled 911.

I have the stainless steel pre-muffler (replaces the cat) and SS sport muffler with the single 84 mm outlet. Great performance, great sound and lower oil temps...a Trifecta!

I have a 78'SC ... so NO CAT COVERT I'm told came with this early model. If so, do I need SSI? Would that do anything to having good heat? I def need the heat. Also .. does SSI help with sound too?

iFox,

I think you are correct...no cat on the '78 911SC. SSI's will improve both performance and sound on the SC's. You will not lose heat. You will need a new muffler with two inlet connections. You will not be disappointed with the improved performance. :)

I had SSI's on my '77 911S ROW and loved them. They connected to a Dansk 2-in, 1-out sport muffler. Really made a positive improvement in performance and enjoyment.

But what if I just go with the muffler? What’s the real advantage to ssi? Actually, what is SSI .. I know it’s a maker , but what is it exactly?? Will sound improve if I just get a Dansk muffler?

SSI just means a stainless steel heat exchanger with dual outlets, and 1.5" primary diameter.
