Default '84 Targa indicator clunk when self cancelling

Hi,

When the indicator cancels after turning it makes a loud clunk. I know these are mechanical but I believe it should be smoother.
Any suggestions appreciated as I'm sure they are expensive to replace.

You will have to take the steering wheel pad or the wheel off. See if the cancelling ring somehow got loose. Clean everything up and give the parts a dab of synthetic grease.

Thanks - looks like I will have to replace the bearing as there is a bit of up and down movement in the wheel...

ooh, that's bad. Whatever you do, don't buy the 928 metal sleeve. A temporary fix can be made out of an Edge shaving gel cap.
