13.6 sec @ 102 mph (Sep 97 Car & Driver). Plus about 1% of your total clutch life every time you do it. Figures from R&T might be slightly better.

C&D: 0-60=4.7 1/4=13.4 @ 104 - '95 Carrera
C&D: 0-60=4.6 1/4=13.3 @ 104 - '95 Carrera (long-term NEW)
C&D: 0-60=4.9 1/4=13.5 @ 104 - '95 Carrera (long-term 40k)
C&D: 0-60=4.9 1/4=13.5 @ 102 - '96 Carrera 4S
C&D: 0-60=4.9 1/4=13.6 @ 102 - '97 Carrera S
C&D: 0-60=5.9 1/4=14.3 @ 101 - '96 Carrera Targa TIP

Porsche Owners Manual: 0-60=5.3 1/4=13.6 '96 Carrera

Note: it's illogical to compare tests done under different conditions (altitude, road surface, tires, driver, climate, etc.).

BTW, per C&D: "... the fat Turbo bodywork held the S back while the skinnier, more aerodynamic long-term [1995] Carrera pulled away above 100 mph and topped out at 161 mph - 6 mph faster than the S's 155."

[Edit: for some reason I couldn't get logged in while editing this posting].

is that # with the 270 hp engine? So will a 96 carrera c2 do slightly better because of higher HP rating?

Question

Shant...

I think your answer is in the above numbers...

Your only looking at HP figures Shant. You must consider weight too. That 1995 could have been a lightly optioned & therefore a lighter weight car - whereas the slower '96 could have been well loaded and "porky."

Oh... That & 1995's rule! Figure it out people!

Dan

Your ability to recall old data (or even just to file it) is astonishing...

The C&D long-term test on the '95 Carrera stated that the slower acceleration times at 40K miles (compared to new) was due to a clutch that had begun to slip.
