Default No Start; Need some troubleshooting help

+ thought my battery was on its way out, so purchased a new one; Odyssey 925T; fully charged; 12.8V as installed; no luck

+ thought it might be the clutch microswitch; jumpered it with a fuse; no luck

+ put my battery charger on 'jump start' with 75A setting; tried this from battery side, and in engine bay jump start bolt; no luck

+ tried jiggling he key, thinking it may be the ignition switch; no luck

+ I get power, dash lights up, but all I get is a 'click'; just one click, like the batt is dead; nothing else happens

???????

No CELs either. Just checked everything I could with my Durametric and no drama.

Instrument Cluster message: "Warning; battery / generator"

Starter? Are you getting 12v at the main starter solenoid bolt? even w/ key off? If so, then battery is supplying power to starter. Check small terminal at solenoid while key in start position. Should get 12v to activate it when key is in start position. Could be the ign switch. Do not know what the failure mode is on 996s... But it seems that the other switch functions are OK since it poweres the rest of the car...

Solenoid is on starter... Don't know how easy it is to get to it... Solenoid has a very large connection that is always powered from battery. Little terminal gets power when ign in start mode.

FIXED!

Consulted with a local resource and was told to check the ground strap near the rear passenger muffler area.

The strap was attached, but loose, likely not tightened completely after my recent engine drop.

Tightened it and the GT3 fired right up!

Too funny, I was lying under the car last night teching it, and I saw this wire. Kind of wondered about it, so I guess it's pretty important

I was so relieved. I was working up to be so ill with myself for recently dropping the motor and not replacing something that had just failed. It seemed too coincidental at the time, but until I was told of the ground strap, I had nothing else to pin it on. Likely the cheapest Porsche fix ever.
