I used to think that the clock hands in the GT were always white but I was looking at them recently and they're a pale, faded orange. Weird, because the rest of the interior has no sun damage whatsoever (well, other than the toes of the A-pillar covers....) Same deal in the GTS. Whatever orange the factory used must not have been very robust.

Wonder how hard it is to non-destructively open an analog clock. Anyone got a color code for VDO orange?

This car has a black leather interior and the A pillar covers are also sun damaged.

The plastic lens pops off and the hands can be touched up with Day-glow paint from most Hobby Shops. BTDT! Takes longer to remove the clock than to renew the color.

It is physically a direct fit but the connector for power is different.

Rob, I just bought a VW cluster from a guy who repaints all sorts of VDO/VW/P-Car gauges. He uses Plasti-kote brand, Orange Glow is the color & B27 is the color code. He said it looks good day or night. He said the trick is that it has to be done in one stroke with enough paint on the brush but not enough to drip. It thickens fast so if you back stroke it will not be smooth.

Here a couple examples of the above paint and method. First is a restore and the second is a conversion from white to orange needles.

Mark,
If you have not sold the clock I would like it please?
The digital on Zanes 87 is suffering black death.

It's all yours Roger. Should I ship it now or wait until you have other stuff?
