It is time for a valve adjust, so the oil goes with that. I had a couple of splits on CV boots, and since I hate the grease-new axles (bolts and gaskets too). Been 8 months since a brakes flush and bushing lube. And since I have a PCA event on 7/31, a good time to spend a day crawling around wrenching and checking.

Did I mention my wife is out of town that night? Good time to spend with the mistress....

No shi-ite. Glad the wifey is out of town now. Opened up one of the boxes in our entryway-pulled the axle out of the box and one of the end caps popped off, loaded with grease, right on the area rug in the entry. Nice smudge. Thank goodness I have some good cleaning stuff, which in and of itself, the use of which would've got me in hot water. But, grease stain is gone!

Get some miles on those new axles and re-torque them before the track day...you know the drill.

I love opening boxes of new Porsche parts. Just like a kid at Christmas, even if it's just routine maintenance stuff.

Even the dog is used to the sound of the UPS truck coming up the driveway and she doesn't bark at it anymore!

Have fun. I too hope to get some work done and put my rollbar in this weekend.

Converting to the late model Carrera axles with the end caps is a good idea if your in and out with the drivetrain very often...speaking as a mechanic.

I think it's funny that Ed couldn't wait to get to the garage to open the boxes !!

And why am I dying to know what he used to get grease out of the carpet?
