I actually have an account over there but i use it a couple of times a year when I want to comment on something. I find it to fast moving for me and prefere this slower more laid back forum ... might take some getting use to for pelicanites though ...

I post over there occasionally, but prefer the mixture of banter and technical knowledge over here.

Yes, Clive, even your banter

I'm seeing a trend. It seems that we have a new set of rules we SHOULD be abiding by. I made the half-sarcastic remark about newer water-cooled (not defined as Porsches) being "expendable" when compared to ours, and was called ignorant. Now, no humor, or humour to our friends in the UK.

Did I miss a memo?!

there are a LOT of new owners in the water cooled cars as prices drop and so they are gettiing hit with a fresh load of "same ole' questions"

I think it wears on people and they tend to get edgy

Too many people confuse real life with the type of car they buy or comments on a forum. You should know this very well having owned a 928.

If they don't like jokes, eff-em. BTW, the watercooled newer P-cars are are disposable. They were designed by Toyota to be that way

And look ^^^ I added smileys to make it better for those that get their hurty-feelys out of shape.

Actually, I was called that over here. But, I know exactly the feeling. We get tons of newbies asking if Odyssey batteries will fit, what are the tire recommendations, what kind of oil, etc. Then, they post these questions as their first post, and iceman needs to jump them for no pics on top of that. The cycle then repeats...

I move this to a vote. We should appoint iceman as "newbie hospitality director".

Well if I am newbie hospitality director I can guarentee you you the enrollment numbers will instantly flatten .. and then start to roll off a little
Some of these guys just don't get the "code" of this place .....

The TOP ten List of the Rennlist 911 Forum

1. Lurk for a while ..get to know the character .. and characters of any forum .. know what you are wading into
2. Introduce yourself in your first post like you would anywhere you are meeting people new.. talk about you and your car .. well really just your car .. we don't care much about you ..
3. If it is your first post and you are really stuck for help we wil give some latitude ..but your second post better have an introduction
4. if you are a newbie prepare to be hazed ... the army is a tough place to be too , but once you are in you are in .. suck it up buttercup, it's all part of the culture..
5. No gay-*** self portraits in your Avatar.. this is a Porsche forum after all . if you want to put a picture of your ugly grinning mug up there go to the 944 forum ... ( scroll down through the cool Avatars on this thread alone .. awesome ! )
5a Exception made for a short while for a REALLY hot chick .. better not be significant other however cause somebody around here is gonna say something , you can bet on it ..
6. must have skin thicker than a single ply butt wipe.. that goes without saying around here .
7. If you ask an opinion your gonna get it .. don't come here fishing for compliments , people here feel free to say what they feel ..
8. See what you can learn , there is a lot of knowledge here .
9. If someone helps you repost and tell us your final outcome and what resolved your issue ..
10 .... have fun , take it for what it is .. sometimes you get the bear , sometimes the bear gets you .. and we have some Big *** bears 'round these parts..
