I seriously doubt that a wrong grade of engine oil could cause an engine to grenade, esp. an engine oil that was previously approved for said engine.

Porsche UK have confirmed to me that it's okay to use previous oil type in the 4RS.

So if I had purchased 6 cartons of the old version prior to Porsche’s revised requirement I would have enough oil for 2 changes per year for the next 4 1/2 years. And this would not void my warranty. Not that I would try or recommend that.

The C40 X4 did come after C40 X3 and is designed for the engines Other than the 9,000 rpm models. The C40 X3 oil (previously used by all the sports cars) was replaced by 2 oils, the C40 X4 for the cars Without the 9,000 rpm limit and the C40 GT for the cars With the 9,000 rpm limit (which is now dyed Green, so Porsche can more easily evaluate whether the right oil was used for the car in question).

My GTS 4.0 engine disintegrated at 2500 miles. I received a brand new, in crate, replacement motor from Porsche. I’m now 1000 miles post break-in and I couldn’t be happier. The engine revs and runs beautifully and sounds magnificent. I don’t understand why a buyer would hesitate buying a car with a replacement motor. You’re getting a new motor, not the old one. If the car is accident free, what’s the argument? There is no connection any longer between the defective motor and car. It’s a full, brand new factory motor.

This is nothing more than 1 additional "Opinion" and we all know what "Opinions" are worth, right guys.
I think if a person looking for a New Porsche or Pre-Owned Porsche would more than likely take the Porsche with, {No-Replacement-Engine}.
I think the general thinking is, if I'm spending that much money then I want as "Complete" a Porsche as it came from Porsche Manufacturing originally.
Unless ............... there was a HUGE .......... Discount, on the Porsche with the New-Porsche-Replacement-Engine.

There should not be any kind of discount for a New Porsche replacement engine. It is absurd that someone should take a FMV hit because the engine had to be replaced by Porsche through no fault of their own. Numbers matching is irrelevant on a modern car. I would not expect anyone to see the benefits in value of a numbers matching modern Porsche in their lifetime.

I fully understand his reasoning. If there were two cars spec'd exactly the same, both low mileage, one with the original engine and the other with a replacement engine, I would pick the original engine car every time.
Now if they were 10 years old and high mileage cars, and the replacement engine had only been done very recently, then I'd be taking the replacement engine car for the obvious reason of having received a brand new engine.
As for not seeing the benefits of a matching numbered car in a modern Porsche in our life time, not sure I'd agree with that at all. There's plenty around here in their 20's and 30's, which allows for plenty of time for certain modern Porsches to become valuable in the future, perhaps even accelerated due to the future of ICE cars. I consider cars like the following to be modern Porsches - 997 GT3RS 4.0, 918 Spyder, 911R, 991.2 Speedster, and I personally think their resale value would suffer with a replacement engine. Collectors/speculators are very picky with these kinds of things.
Anyway, I'm not sure why anyone would be getting upset with others opinions on this topic, very much a case of each to their own.
