Facts are facts. Resale value will be impacted with a history of engine swap. Putting yourself in such a position as a buyer, would you be paying market price on a swapped engine car unless the price reflects the reality ?

If the swap was done by a Porsche dealership with new parts, and there were no recurring issues after the work was done, I would not hesitate to pay market price if the rest of the spec was what I wanted.

If there were two identical builds, and one had an engine swap and similar asking price, for me it would come down to maintenance records and care of ownership inside and out.

Honestly, I don't think it matters if it's replaced under warranty. Buying a used car, I might prefer the one with the newer (i.e. replaced) engine.

And yes, care and maintenance are important when buying pre owned.

the answer to the question is simple but complicated
but basically depends on the economy and the brand image at time of sale plus some other smaller factors
if brand image is hot and economy is good, people tend to overlook certain things like a replaced engine or bad car fax
to me personally , I know these events are rare, but I decided 20 years ago never to own a car out of factory warranty irrespective of the brand , and these stories confirm that I made the right decision

There's a simple question for anyone to ask themselves.

There are now Lots & lots of available GT4 RS for sale with all different colors & options.

So, does the Prospective buyer take the one with the New-Replaced-Porsche Engine ???

Or the one that doesn't have the Porsche-Replacement-Engine ???

If anyone is 100% Honest we all know which GT4 RS the prospective buyer is going to go for !!!

This may be a dumb question, but if you purchase a new vehicle, and do not "run the motor in correctly", would Porsche know / will it affect any warranty work to that motor in the future even if you are still under factory warranty?

I would say it depends on what you mean by "run the motor in correctly", the DME/ECU monitors and records a lot of parameters, for example over-revs...

As for warranty work to the engine, most definitely any work of this type will be carefully vetted before being approved.

I just filed a claim with Porsche NA. They will get back to me within the week. The engine is now getting installed and I should have it back by the end of the week.

As Westcoast said above says above from my Years and years of experience is Totally correct ^^^

Especially if you were "Over-Revving" it from the moment you drove off the Porsche dealer's lot.

They do have the means to find that information out.

Thank you, I'm familiar with over-revs, was not aware they would be called in on factory warranty work, but makes sense.

Here is maybe some useful information for you.
I worked in different areas for plus 16-years reporting to the Parts & Service directors.

I don't know what Porsche does but my (Opinion) is it will be the same as I state below.

(1) Major engine issues and under the Factory Warranty still.
Dealer will definitely call Porsche and they will send their tech specialist to check things out like {Over-Revving}.

(2) PDK major issue, same thing applies as above ^^^

In other words anything that has to do with Major "Drive-Train-Components" it's going to be checked for what could have caused the BREAKAGE !!!

And the Major reason the Porsche Service Department does the above is to cover themselves.
Those Warranty parts are sent back for the Dealer's Warranty reimbursement and when sent back they are going to be looked at for any issues.
