The stock "silver" is also bright, the configurator is tricking many of you into thinking the silver is dark or dull when it isn't in real life. I bet Porsche did this to try and sell more satin aluminum wheels since they ordered a certain amount to be manufactured for the SRS.

Okay, so the long post I worked on disappeared.

Great.

You know, this is the second time this has happened to me. I go to attach a photo — ensuring that the cursor is all the way at bottom — and after attaching the photo, I finalize the post and ALL the text of the post is gone and has disappeared. Very annoying, I just flushed 25 minutes of a thoughtful post down the drain.

Thanks
yea i had 3 992 turbo s. One coupe and 2 cabs
they are not the same planet
tts is the best normal car porsche makes. U can press a button to put the roof, windscreen, heated steering wheel, and *** warmers. Then smoke a lambo and a gt3 rs up to 140 mph
the srs is the most raw and fun car porsche makes
totally different the srs is a toy car that makes you feel like a little kid and should be illegal
srs is smaller, lighter, louder, way less practical, way crazier, and way more communicative but has alot of compromises which you need to ignore because its so good

Haha. Hey, if you or anyone else received the automated thread subscription email with my reply to @Angryinch on Turbo S vs Spyder RS, can you post it here? (And maybe throw in a minute or two of effort correcting typographical errors )

(I am not asking for a private message since then I could potentially receive a private message from every single subscriber to this thread, which wouldn’t be good for my inbox )

lol, no it’s not.

Love my cars, but if I'm grabbing the keys, it's to this. No comparison.

Anyone have both a 4RS and SRS? I'm interested in the comparison.

Good point! I was going off of the configurator which shows the silver as more of a gun metal "dark silver" color.

If you don't select any finish, the default color is indeed Dark Silver.

I don't doubt Satin Aluminum is a tad brighter than Silver, but it also lacks Silver's sparkly flecks since it's more of a monotone finish, which could give it a darker appearance in duller lightning, potentially. At any rate, I'd love to see both side-by-side in person.

The configurator wheel color depictions are all slightly off. Brightest is satin aluminum…but satin finish so little more difficult to maintain that silver

A little chaotic at the start, but some serious superlatives thrown at the srs

As someone that has ridden motorcycles for 20 years, just…no, It is nothing like a motorcycle

SRS is fun and relatively raw for a modern sports car but my Ducati Panigale V4S with full exhaust and tune was a ballistic missile that was 2,600lbs lighter and revved to 16K RPMs, while being completely exposed to the elements. Totally different animal. Not a comparable experience to any car really.

agree, but it’s the closest you can come, but with reasonable safety.

I’m a physician. Used to race motorcycles in my youth. Many other physicians were motorcycle enthusiasts in their youth.

almost no physician continues with motorcycles once they have done their ER and or trauma surgery rotations. I’ve seen kids in their 20s paralyzed for life, guys missing a third of their brain, traumatic amputations, and of course many fatalities.

The Spyder RS is not a motorcycle, but it might be the second most emotional open air motoring experience you can have, but in a much safer way with TC, seatbelts, and airbags, so your life and lifestyle aren’t needlessly jeopardized.

Agreed, one of my best buddies is a emergency surgeon and he’s always busier in “motorcycle season” as he calls it. I still ride enduro, but my wife who's also a Dr made me a deal years ago that if I don’t ride on the street I can get any car I want. Well I picked up my ST this weekend and my SRS is on the way. Not sure she would make that offer again…

Funny enough I also want cars that are as close to my two stroke bikes as possible. I think the 4.0 is about as good as it gets. Excited about the SRS! As a matter of fact AP has referred to KTM two strokes as a inspiration of GT cars in an interview. I think it was the 4RS. I bought that comparison hook, line and sinker.

I stopped riding last year when a lady crossed into oncoming illegally at 45mph and totaled previously mentioned Ducati. I’m skilled and experienced but can’t account for the stupidity of others. Luckily, I was wearing my full set of gear and flew over her car, did a front flip, and landed on my feet to avoid permanent damage. Crappy few months of physical therapy and fracture healing and I’m almost back to 100%. I’ll stick to cars from now, at least on the street. I’ve got other toys and activities to get my thrills.
