Default Delicate Doorcards?

So, I am 6'1" and wear a size 12 shoe so I try to be careful getting in an out of the LWBS. However, boot season now and yesterday I was not being careful enough and I scuffed the bottom of the door card by the front pocket with my boot--ugh! It looks like they are painted plastic and my boot scuffed through the paint. It was not a kick or hard impact either, just a slight brush.

At first I thought it was boot rubber left on the door but alas it is not but I'm afraid to try to scrub it and make it worse. I know if it bothers me enough, I can change out the card but I'll probably just do it again.

Anyone notice this and it there a paint or other solution to touch it up?

See if any sort of plastic restorer will help. A few detailing companies sell them like AMMONYC or Meguires. I had a similar issue on my Supra and though I had ruined the plastic as well but I used some plastic restorer and you can't even tell.

I was thinking a trim restorer would help but it's hard to say without seeing the damage. Can you post a photo of the damage?

Do you have metal tips on those boots? Spurs maybe? Surely you have the pdk? I can’t imagine driving a manual with boots. I can’t imagine driving any car while wearing boots. I always drive all my cars (even my “beater”) with shoes and then put my boots on when I get to the trailhead or area where I need boots. This is similar to a woman driving with proper shoes and then changing foot ware (heels etc.) when getting to the office or event.

Sorry that happened, but really? I wouldn’t let Jennifer Connelly into my bed or my car if she wore boots.😏

p.s. I typically hate posts that don’t answer the question and just admonish the OP, but this one struck a nerve. Sorry, get it fixed, and learn from your mistake!

Thanks for posting a photo. I would try a plastic restorer (Aerospace 303, Einszett Cockpit Premium, CarPro PERL) to see if it will help. Unfortunately, from the photos it appears this is damage and not a "light scuff" that can be corrected with a liquid solution. Keep us posted on how this goes.

I do not think the doorcards are delicate . . . I just do not think they are a match for your boots

I would not even worry about it, but understand you are not me . . . hope you find the resolve you are after

I wouldn't worry about it, that's why that section is made out of that material. I'm 6'-2" and hit that section 50% of the time (with sneakers though!) and it leaves a scuff. You could try a bit of Back to Black on a small section. IMO anyone buying a used car should expect to see scuffs there.

I am a boot guy and hate to admit it but actually have quite a selection of boots and no PDK. No metal spurs or steel toes either, just a bunch of custom, rare, and handmade boots. I wear them all the time except in the heat of summer. Must be a military holdover.

My 997s and my 981 Spyder never did this which is why I was wondering if there was maybe some change in material.

Magic Eraser with its light abrasiveness can sometimes be useful in blending some of that damage into the surroundings.

I kick that area all the time.

Do you have LWBS with your older cars? Maybe the buckets make you get out a bit differently?

The other possibility is when we get a bit older, we lose a bit of flexibility. I definitely noticed that myself. If seat is not the issue.
