Opening frunk & trunk with Porsche Entry & Drive "gesture"

That's interesting as (just today, after this thread) I talked to a tech at my dealership who said it's not possible to retrofit the sensors, even though the wiring is all there, etc. He said he tried it with another customer's car and it didn't work (although he didn't elaborate on why it didn't / can't)
I find your dealership's response questionable, but who knows. My initial thinking is that they are totally wrong. There are only two things, I can think of, that "should" be able to stop it from working.
1) Something missing in the chain (sensors, wiring/connectors, computer module)
2) Properly programming the appropriate computer module.
Both of these things are fixable.
I'll try to remember to report back when the dealership gets the sensor in as to whether they are successful or not.

Unfortunately, that's more typical than it ever should be, two dealerships saying completely opposite things. Pretty lame in today's supposed information world.

I see a couple entries for Keyfob Proximity sensor for Frunk and Trunk in PIWIS. @Z06jerry We can try to code this once we know which sensors are required.
On the GT4, I did not see those entries.

I never knew about this feature. Would I have had it on my 2020 Spyder?

The feature *does* exist. It is simply that there is the known supply-chain issue with the availability of wiring harnesses, sensors, etc. Porsche is delivering the cars without them rather than holding up delivery of the car for that one minor feature.
My 2022 GTS came without the sensors installed. During the pre-delivery preparation, the dealer only had one sensor with the second one back ordered (there are two for the frunk IIRC). They installed the one sensor thinking that the system might work for a certain area at least, but no luck, so they put everything back together and will install the other sensor when it arrives.
It seems like the typical German engineering mistakes still prevail. ;-)

left side is actual proximity sensor part # 99163713301. right side is the dummy empty sensor housing that I found in my car
located beneath the front bumper cover
front bumper cover removed
location of front antenna to detect the presence of key. inside frunk behind carpet
close-up of antenna
coming soon ... fitting the new proximity sensor to the rear bumper ... pictures to follow hopefully!

Burning Brakes
i have it on mine ('17CS) as as posted above the only time i have ever "used" it was while washing the car and having it open without my intent. always happens when i have a big soap-filled sponge just about to touch the part so all the water can run inside...
