I had something come up so I’m out. I’ll cancel my room at The Hangar so there will be one available for Saturday night. Y’all have fun and take pictures.

Over the years I've learned than if I want the best shot at a good sporting Hill Country run on a Sunday morning I need to head out at sunrise. The traffic starts building significantly around 9am or so.

There's a chance of storms on Sunday but Saturday seems like the sweet spot. Would you guys be open to meeting early Saturday for breakfast and then doing some driving? Only problem with that is a later start will equal more traffic......Phil

There's a variety of reports of course, but this one from Accuweather for Kerrville breaks it down to detail for the morning. The afternoon looks a little better. Other reports have also indicated possible spotty thunderstorms.
Given the probably spottiness of it we'll probably gamble and go ahead with the drive. If we actually run into a thunderstorm or standing water - which the Sport Cup 2s aren't great with - then we'll just find a good place to stop for a while until it passes. If that looks like it will run long then we'll just drive easy. If it gets to Sunday morning and things look substantially worse we'll consider dropping out and returning to base. At this point we are still in.

DMK2, the roads are narrow as is. At speed (which is what I'd want to do them at anyway) is even more precarious. I've run car/bike groups in the TXHC for many years and I flat won't lead them if it's even damp. Most folks do not know the roads and with very little to no shoulder or ARMCO barrier (Lost Maples) it absolutely precludes 'the fun'...but again, that's just me. If one person wrecks or worse everyone's not having a good day. Now with that perspective out there, if a group is just planning to 'cruise' then go for it!

Tho they widened the road at a few of the corners I used to find fun. Was cool having zero shoulder between inside of corner and wall.

At this point the hotel is likely non-refundable so I am going no matter what. If it rains I will cruise. If not..... well, I admit to nothing officer.
Either way it will be a nice run.
