Might be regional, might be track layout. Crazy canuck's region is definitely an oddball. I used to race with someone who moved back to quebec and apparently the Ferrari guys actually buy race ferraris and actually track them too. Must be a French Canadian F1 fan something in the water thing but racing is strong in that part of Canada.

I don't think it's organizer. I’m familiar with most of the events run in Western Canada and their attendance. Pretty much every track has a group that tries and attracts high end clients/cars. We have 3 tracks in my city. Lots of disposable income here. Lots of high end cars. Have a new track finishing up construction this winter not far away that will probably be our new best track as it’s trying to cater to the rich not clubs. But outside of our schools we just don’t see a RS getting tracked. Maybe a 1 time thing and you never see it again but where they become a regular? No. There are RS owners that are regulars but they use a different car.

Might not even be the track. We have a pretty good track in British Columbia too (top gear used it) and there is a lot of high end cars and money around it. The track style is good for running a $$$ car (faster track and wide run offs) but here is a typical picture of what goes there for Porsches. Which is very similar to what I see for Porsche attendance in my city 0-1 RS, usually zero. 0-3 GT3s, often 1). i think it comes down to a lot of GT owners money where I am comes from working and they're busy working or our culture here of spamming buying toys. Everyone has a boat, RV, sled, quads, sidebyside, lake cabin, multiple toy cars, etc. and no time to use any of that stuff regularly. BC has a lot of people who moved to BC with money to retire. I have a feeling they spend their time on boats or traveling or enjoying the outdoors there.

The Advanced run group in the PCA Pacific Northwest Region is mostly GT3 and GT3RS with a few GT4s and GT4 Clubsports now. It's sort of a running joke that Intermediate is the Cayman group and Advanced is the GT3* group... If I can get my hands on one it'll be run on the track frequently.

"Pretty good track"? I absolutely LOVE Area 27 and have had my 981 GT4 there several times. I agree on the money comment, though - every time I've been there, there's been a lot of high $$$ cars running around, all in my advanced run group too. Mostly Ferraris and Lamborghinis. It does make one a little nervous ;-)

If the stars align I'll have my 4RS up there too.

The high dollar guys never want to let the lowly "entry level Porsches" pass. lol Especially the Italian ones. You're in their passenger seat through every turn, then they roar off on the straights. Rinse and repeat. (Not all of them, of course)

Thanks for sharing! How did the wing look in person? Love the grey, the hood, and the fender vents.

The launch color package is just "off" - we love the car in spite of its crazy mismatched launch shades. It looks like a blind date that did not work out!
The plastic Naca ducts and fender vents are just wrong, should have been carbon fiber, ESPECIALLY bad on Weissach package car. The bean counters won on this one.
The wing is very good, way nicer than standard GT4. Yet, falls short not being identical to the Clubsport car.
The contrasting, non-body colored side scoops are so aftermarket. Ok fine if you like exposed CF get it. Otherwise, leave that idea to Audi.
No changes to the plain bulbus rear end? Aggressive vertical cut out vents would have been nice. I will grade this one an "Incomplete".
The air intake treatment on the interior is both ingenious and esthetically pleasing. 5-stars to that designer.
The front fender cutout behind the wheel is different, aggressive, works on this car. You better wrap it.
Choosing to use the GT3 engine is the NUTS - it alone makes the RS truly a special Cayman and worth the price of admission.

I think your last sentence resumes most of it....wonder how many would have made the jump if the engine was a 9A2 Evo with 450-460 Hp.
Some of the plastic can be addressed aftermarket but for the $$$$ I agree with you....a bit more should have been offered.

I thought the grey was ok. It didn't wow me. Probably didn't help it had the mag wheels too. It was an odd combo of colors. I think the grey would be helped with silver or black wheels... or even gold.

I'm also not a fan of gloss so I think the WP is too much for me (also financially). Doesn't help that the splitter is plastic as well. I do like the clubsport wing which is unfinished CF and it had a gurney flap as well.

Overall I would probably be ok without the WP or wheels. We don't even get the roll cage here. Just sucks to not have the same intake duct and CF intake. And I can't imagine the mag wheel color being ok with any color out there.
