^^^^ Would expect nothing less from you! You don't strike me as the kind of person that would dive in just half way

Go big or go home, right?!

This is very likely the last fun car I'll ever buy, and I didn't want to be wishing I had something.

There are a couple options that I think were very wasteful, for me...

It's awfully hard to start checking boxes on the configurator and stop before venturing into the ones you could (but don't want to) live without...

I don't know if that explanation was true or not, although I recall someone else (Donovan?) who had experienced a similar delay indicating that it was attributable to this same issue, so maybe the explanation was legit . . . .

That is entirely possible and sounds legit.

My car arrived to the port in New Jersey March 9th during one of the worst winters I had seen in the 7 years I lived in MA. Between the cold and very slow economy I think the port was probably empty so my car was at the dealer 2 days later. I was honestly hoping the car would take longer to manufacture and ship so I could pick it up at the dealer and drive it home but with so much snow on the ground I had to have the car shipped and then suffer through another 45 days staring at it in the garage while I waited for the salt to wash off the roads.

This is exactly how my deal was supposed to go. The car was due Feb 17th and I had worked in a flatbed delivery to my garage. Then stare at it, til the salt is gone (I'm in Massachusetts too). Porsche changed ports and they don't use that NJ port any more. It's in North Kingston now which is about 45 minutes from me and probably an hour from the dealer. I'm hoping to get to drive the car home!

You guys, and by that I mean all of the people complaining about the new turbo cars that they haven't driven yet, crack me up. People sell their left nut to be able to get into a 911 Turbo, and now that all 911s are turbos, they think that Porsche won't know how to do it. They do. They've been doing it for a long time.

And it's a Porsche. Not only that, it's a Boxster. Arguably one of the best handling, best driving cars in the world, regardless of price. PCNA doesn't need to troll forums to build up sales.

IMHO.
Well said! Thank you.

Get a set of clear corners for the front - looks much better than the amber ones (see my avatar) and price for the DIY is minimal. Give Suncoast a call and order them!

I have a 718 Cayman S and have tracked it 3 times so far. ORP clockwise and CCW. 1 day at the Ridge Motorsports Park. Next track is PIR in June. Stock tires and stock brakes. The car handles superbly. Keep it above 3.2K rpm and you'll have no turbo lag. Car rotates smoothly with throttle input (the little blinking yellow traction light tells you so!). If you've bought one of these and you don't plan to track it, you've wasted your money. Going into turn 1 at TRMP at 138, brake and pull thru the turn at 93 is easy with this car.

Great posts. I bought a 718 a few weeks ago and love the car. Of course I got a MT! The 718 with MT had plenty of torque and sounds great. I do think you have to get the S if you need PDK. But the reason I bought it was the handling. You can't beat a mid-engine car in true handling and the steering feedback and precision is so fantastic I can't stop smiling every time I drive it!!

At the track while I'm revving well over 5K down the straightaway, a number of people have commented how wicked the engine sounds...so may not sound so great at idle but up on the pipe it's a different story.

I sold my 993 C4, I owned since 2006 last February and had the opportunity to drive a 718 non S PDK.
For the sound I knew, but for the handling I did not!
I have bought that car right away!
The 718 is really fun to drive on the narrow roads in the mountains.
I also own a 991.1 4S which I have driven a lot in the Pyrenees here, but also on some tracks such as the Michelin Dry/Wet test track in Ladoux.
Don’t ask me which car currently remains in the garage.
Just tell you, light is right and the 718 should have a much bigger fan club.
You drive one on a road made for sports cars and you will buy one, even with a 4 cylinder engine.
A little video in YouTube

What I find interesting is that the last couple articles or blogs I’ve read or listened to said that with the 718 4 Cylinder the more they drove it the more they liked it.
I’ve had a good bit of seat time in the GTS and S, both manual and PDK. Even as a 991.2S owner, it sounds good, especially at high RPMs where it’s got a very racy/Motorsport sound.
