Default 718 GT4 RS

Now when we have 718 GT4 introduced is good time to open new thread about the RS version
Anybody who will have GT4 RS related news pls, share.
Thanks in advance

For now I just saw, that somebody will produce special body pannels for 718, the person claim for RS version, hope he did not mismatch with clubsport...
And seeing the "heavy" GT4, even Magnus Walker speculated about GT4 RS.

It has been speculated since 2015 in my memory.

if Porsche puts the RS moniker on a car with a carrera engine, they will have stooped to an all time low.

Even the base GT4 bares very little resemblance to any Carrera engine. I have my complaints, but this is not a valid one, imo.

I guess the GT2RS doesn't count...

I think this is possible as a 718 send off. This may be even more true if the GT3RS gets a 4.2 liter motor and there is more room in the line up for a more powerful and lighter GT4

"we need to keep a little bit of distance to the 911 GT3 of course."

once the new GT3 is released, there will be plenty of room
both pricing and performance to sneak a GT4RS in between

posting in the 718 forum to try to keep some semblance of uniformity (718 stuff in the 718 forum)
even though the most heavily viewed thread in the 981 forum is about the "718 GT4?" with nearly a half million views since the 718 GT4 was unveiled a month ago

Porsche GT bucket list before ICE engines become extinct (may not happen for several years, but just in case...)
- GT3 Touring (Done)
- 718 Spyder (Deposit placed)
- 997.2 GT3 RS (Gotta hunt for the right one now)
- 718 GT4 RS (if it happens)

That’s my plan. Or just sell them all and get a CGT

I need a speedster. Every time I drive the touring, I am like “why is this roof here? I don’t need this roof.” Every time I drive my 993 cab, I am like “why does this not rev to 9000rpm? It needs 2x the hp.” I hope the spyder scratches the itch.

Or I will just buy a RUF cab.

I've never liked or really understood this strategy. It reminds me of Blockbuster, Beta tapes and 8-tracks. Porsche should put its best foot forward in every model they build. Let the market place decide which stays and which goes.

Would you pay ~$155k base price on a GT4RS with the GT3 engine? I know you are on the list for a 992 GT3, if the price was the same would you get a 992 GT3 or a 718 GT4RS? What if it was everything of the GT3RS, but on a 718 platform, would you pay GT3RS money for it? There has to be some pricing stratification and that reflects in the performance/spec.

But I think Porsche is putting their best foot forward. The GT4RS will get PDK, more aero, and presumably more power and some of the RS lightweight goodies. Totally not my style, but Porsche is putting their best foot forward (at a given price), by making a very track focused Cayman (which apparently everyone has wanted for more than a decade).

IMHO The answers no....Why? you still don't get RWS and the multilink rear suspension. You can't have those on the mid engine platform due to body and packaging.
Then you have intangibles like it's not a 911 and the likes (which for me I don't care on those) but for some and Porsche it does.
When we move to the engine you have to get rid of the dry sump tank and as mentioned by AP on various interviews the GT3 engine doesn't behave well when detuned.
So we would be back to the 9A2 Evo engine in a higher tune state....around 450 hp which I bet this engine is more than capable of providing.
As for aero, the new GT4 gets a lot of aero improvements...maybe a bigger rear wing? Maybe some carbon fenders and roof?
If people are complaining about the new GT4 price/improvements ratio they will also not like and RS with even less improvements for a lot more cash, and when you are in this price range you will probably be able to swing into a GT3.
As you mentioned there's got to be some pricing stratification so the model is viable.

Yes. The 911 is too big for me.
