Not trying to hate but was expecting more...
3300 lbs and same torque as the old model is not great.

Not going to trade my 718 gts for this. If I want a GT car that is more track oriented I will get a .1gt3 again.

Old gt4 seems like a good bargain for those looking though. It doesn’t seem like this car will drive too differently.

I’m pretty sure the 3300 lbs weight is wrong. Porsche quoted 1420 kg (3130 lbs), and said the weight increase is mainly a change in the way they report weight (they now report without weight saving options - steel and sofa seats instead of PCCB and LWBS). Andreas P said the actual weight increase compared to the 981 is only 30 kg, and that’s probably due to the particulate filter and the larger battery for start stop.

Will keep my 18’ GTS

Agree entirely...I am sure that Andreas P and company have made another fine “GT” but for now I will keep my 718 GTS.

Disappointing.

718 GTS with Cobb stage I tune will at least match the power (if not make more) and make waaaaay more torque. And be lighter weight.

I bought my 718 GTS as an interim car waiting for the new spyder, now I'm having second thought. The more I use it on a daily basis besides weekend fun run the more I appreciate the wider power band & convenience of the auto-top. With the increasing price, you are looking at 120k+ after lwb pccb leather etc. At that price point I may just pony up for a GT3(RS)

I also agree the performance figures are nice but not great.

Not a lot of improvement over the 981 GT4 and the PDK 718 GTS will still have faster straight line speed and with better wheels and Cup 2 tires, let alone aero, probably similar track times. Good for current GTS owners.

Though no doubt the 718 GT4 will still be a better/great track weapon for pounding out the laps given the brakes/wheel set and tires. However, seems like the gap between GTS and GT cars is getting smaller.

If they release a PDK GT4 version that will really lift the game.

I am very happy that all the speculation is over. The car looks great and, I'm sure will sound great. The 8K redline should be glorious. It's not a GT3 engine but that would have changed the price considerably. It will with an MSRP of $99.2K, however, easily be over $100K with minimal options.

But, playing the devil's advocate, with the extra $20K over the current GTS, you get a car that's no faster than the current GTS, even though the GTS gives up almost 50hp. You will get some GT3 underpinnings and probably some increased handling characteristics, particularly on the track. You will get bragging rights and probably a higher residual value down the line. The MT crowd will be happy but the PDK guys disappointed. The 200 lbs of extra wight shouldn't matter too much with 414 hp. You will be rid of the hated T4 engine.

So, what's the verdict? Will it be a rousing success or just a niche car for those who want a more track oriented ride? Will people jump at it or buy the new Carrera S for almost the same price

One thing people always forget when comparing it to the GTS - it has the entire front end from a GT3 which makes a big difference. That means it has GT3 brakes on a car that's a lot lighter. It makes the braking SO SO SO much better.

As a current GT4 owner in paint to sample i'm hesitating as to whether i will upgrade or not. PTS is now $11k and i was hoping for a detuned GT3 4.0 liter engine so that i could at least modify and tap into more power later. I don't doubt that the handling has improved considerably but I don't know that it's worth the $5-10k depreciation loss and $2k in taxes for me to upgrade for the same 0-60 time and similar styling.

I'll keep talking with my dealer and maybe spec one out but I was hoping for more. Definitely has me on the fence.

Dude, your incremental cost to trade "up" to a 718 GT4 is much higher than the incremental benefit. Save your money! You have a PTS car- that I would die for!

Agreed. At least on paper.

I was playing around with the car configuration (see below for anyone that wants to have fun) and i was already up to $110k without specifying all the options I wanted. On top of that paint to sample is no longer an option on the GT4 at least according to the configurator. Not worth it for me to upgrade. I'll keep my paint to sample "Home Depot Orange" car.

I was hoping to get the next Sypder but now totally lost interest. The Carrera T at around $115K nicely optioned would be a better buy, especially one with a tune.

I think new GT4's weight is on par with GT3 now. They are going in the heavier/more capable direction as the 992. As a potential spyder buyer I'd rather it shreds another 100lb with the same hp
