LOL. I'm trying to figure out if that is closer to or farther from the middle of nowhere. At all depends upon how you rate Lubbock Folks that didn't grow up in West Texas have no idea.

Edit: I forgot about El Paso - there is a Porsche dealer in El Paso - which is 434 miles from Amarillo.
A medium-length drive by Texas standards. But a long flatbed ride by anyone's standards.

... there is no Porsche dealer in West Texas. I bought this used Cayman from a Mazda dealer in Lubbock.
Last century minus 10 years there was a VW/Porche dealer on Georgia street near the intersection of I-27. When it went, I think some of those folks started Precision Automobiles, Inc on Paramount st and for a while they were actually the local Porsche dealer. (Long story as to how I know this.) Probably not a snow ball's chance in Umbarger that they are still there. I bring this up because ...

... while the scheduled maintenance is something you can do yourself, if you run into issues you will need a shop that has the Porsche Service (PIWIS) laptop to read (Porsche proprietary) codes, and other stuff that no aftermarket product yet does. Ideally, you'd be able to find an 'import' shop in Amarillo or Lubbock that works on enough newer Porsches that they can swallow the monthly lease payment for the PIWIS.

...and I am getting a change-the-oil notice when I first turn the key.
There are several aftermarket 'code readers' that will allow you to reset the service intervals (after you change the oil of course.)

As for the rest: nice options. I haven't found a color on a 981/718 Cayman that I don't like. Maybe Chalk. But, all the rest look good. I can't decide which color I want more than any other.

Thanks for all the kind words and information. I'm finally going to get around to washing it tomorrow. Looking forward to it.

And thanks again for the information.

Still thrilled with it.

Thanks guys!

Washed and waxed it. Looks wonderful. I used the airplane "wash and wax" I use on my old Piper Cherokee Six. Doesn't last too long but it's easy to do.

When I bought the Cayman I hoped it would suit me for a good-weather daily driver. And it does. I had a Chrysler Crossfire with a manual transmission and i was tired of shifting. I really like the PDK.

Very comfortable daily driver I think.

I'm still trying to find a set of paper owner's manuals and maintenance schedule. Thanks again for the information on the online manuals. I was unable to locate a maintenance schedule. I talked to Park Place Porsche service department about the "Oil Maintenance Now" and warranty. They said that message was because the car was now over a year old. I am at 4,500 miles and it is a Texas car so I think the oil is good.

The window sticker says it came with "Porsche Connect", listed as a $1020 option. And it has a USB port in the center console and a place for my IPhone. And when I plug my car phone into that USB port the cars asks me about "Apple Car Play". But I see no mention of "Navigation" or "Apple Car Play" in the list of options. So I want to sort through that. I would be happy having my IPhone map up on the display that is in the center of the dash. So I'm still sorting through all that. But I enjoy the research.
