Default 718 Cayman Fuel Tank Bracket Issue

I was planning on leasing a new 2019 Cayman GTS this weeekend from my local Porsche dealer when I got and email from SA stating that there is an issue with a bracket near the fuel tank and they are not allowed to sell any 2018/2019 Caymans. They are awaiting an update from Porsche on a fix. Has anyone else come across this? Ruined my weekend for sure.

I’m in the same boat here. We just about finalized the deal on the car, and then was told they can not deliver. I am holding off signing until this is sorted out. My understanding is there is no ETA on the fix.

?? Is this a new issue? Is it unique to the GTS? I have received no recall notice on the car I purchased last July.

I was told that the notice was released to the dealers late on 2/15. Below is what the dealer wrote me
Porsche just issued a stop sale for a bracket in the luggage compartment...every car built from 3/15-2/19 is effected and can not be sold or delivered until the fix is handled...

However, they have not released a remedial measure yet...

Anxiously awaiting the fix. My SA thought it would be fairly quick, but they are waiting on Porsche to deliver the fix.

have you signed the deal already or have you put a deposit down on the car?

Was going to this past weekend. Got the note on Friday about Porsche putting a hold on all sales. Just waiting for the go ahead. Essentially negotiated the terms of the lease, just need to go through the formalities of the paperwork.

*Raises hand* me too

My car is scheduled to arrive at the dealer any day now, SA just called to let me know about the stop sale. No new information to add.

Can you clarify what this date range is/means?

Porsche just issued a stop sale for a bracket in the luggage compartment...every car built from 3/15-2/19 is effected and can not be sold or delivered until the fix is handled...

However, they have not released a remedial measure yet...
I assume that "2/19" is February 2019. What is the "3/15" part? Cars build from March 2015?

Many thanks.

I was told this applied to 2018 and 2019 cars. So I would assume they are saying from March of 2018 to February of 2019?

I have a 2019 CGTS build ($103k less 5.5% discount) scheduled for 3/8 with May 3 delivery. My SA said he is not aware of any hold, but too many others have confirmed this so I believe there is an issue. I ordered the car in late September but wanted a Spring delivery. Between this delay and being anxious they announce a PDK GT4, I am really not sure how this will play out. Does anyone know how dealer would handle my financial obligation if I decided I wanted a GT4? I gave a $1,000 deposit and emailed my approval, but do not actually have a signed sales order. My build has Burmester but otherwise is pretty standard GTS.

To be more specific about my GT4 interest, it is really more needing a touring model with front clearance at least as much as GTS with SPASM as my driveway is steep. I would be fine with manual if only offered that way.

Dealer rang me today - I was told that the fix is installation of a number of "rivets". Not sure how much of the car needs to be dismantled, nor where exactly the rivets are to go. Mine is late Dec build, arrived by boat last week was picking it up next week - now on hold, dealer says March.

I am in Australia btw.

This is interesting news, mine is a Jan build due to be delivered late March/early April. Hopefully they will have it sorted by then and a quick fix!

Fontana, which dealer in Oz are you picking your car up from?

I just emailed my Business Manager and my 2019 Cayman Base Manual is a Stop Sale as well. Ordered in July 2018, it's somewhere between RI and Wisconsin. It's said to be a luggage compartment bracket problem without a known fix. He's got 4 cars on the lot he can't currently sell. My first Porsche. Winter wheel/tire site is stacked in the garage, beckoning me. The wait is killing me.

I just (last week) purchased a base 2018 which I think is an 11/2017 build. Will call corporate tomorrow to get confirmationb on "hold" dates. No mention what so ever of the issue when I purchased the car.
