Default 2019 Cayman came in this weekend!

I ordered my Cayman base back in September and it finally came in this past weekend. It's white on black with only a few options: PDK, 19" S wheels, and Apple Carplay. Below are a few amateur observations just for fun or discussion or whatever.

I had a manual 2007 911 C2 before this. The Cayman faster in every way. And although they weigh about the same, the Cayman feels much lighter and tossable.

There is a little lag in comfort mode. But it's actually kind of fun to punch it in comfort mode. You get a little lag & then a pretty violent burst of acceleration that really slams you back in the seat. I don't notice any lag in sport mode.

I'm not a track guy but I like to drive the canyons. The handling and the steering are amazing in the Cayman. I just feel confident taking corners pretty much as fast as I want.

The sound is really cool! It's deep, throaty, and guttural with lots of cracks, pop, and backfires. I mean what's not to like?

Agree with you on all aspects. They also finally got the rear end to look really good - overall it's a great sports car congrats on your purchase!

Sounds like the wait was definitely worth it. Enjoy

Congratulations. Nice to hear how much you love the new car, especially after ordering it and waiting on it.

Thanks everyone! The 4 month wait was worth it. I really can't believe just how tight everything feels in this car, handling-wise. It's just a pleasure to drive.

Yah it's world class and drives well above it's league. My dealer let us test drive a 718 base and 718S back to back - both cars were exceptional. Speed is where it really surprised me (and I was driving my still new C7 Grandsport all day just prior) The 718 felt nearly as fast as my Corvette. I did not like the prior Cayman generation as I thought they felt slow - the 718 is a different animal.

I didn't drive an S simply because it was a bit out of my budget. Next time!

Congrats...you are going to love the journey as you get more seat time. Then you'll be ruined like all the rest of us and start hunting for a GTS/Spyder

Great choice. Some people say that the base is the best model to get and still plenty of power and torque for most!

I think I said it before, the first 718 Cayman I drove was base. It was so quick, I thought it was the S. Side by side you might see some difference, but it is a very quick car.
