That Cayman T mule sounds the same as the GT4 and Spyder mules. People in the know are saying it’s a lower revving variant of the GT3’s 4.0L engine.
If Porsche sells a Cayman with the power and sound of a GT4, combined with a PDK and the practical ground clearance of a regular 718, I would buy it in a heartbeat. It’s exactly what I want. I want the sound and high revving nature of a 981 GTS, with the torque, steering feel, and modern electronics of a 718 GTS, and none of the ground scraping, bumper breaking impracticality of a GT4.

I'm picking up a "new" 2018 (demo w/1,500 miles) 718 Cayman GTS tomorrow. As much as I hope the Cayman T turns out to be an NA flat six and more like a GT4 Touring lite, I'm going to be super bummed if I was right. And if so, I'm selfishly going to be hoping it's not released until late 2019 or 2020, so I can still trade up without totally losing my shirt on the GTS.

Saw this on the 987/981 forum. I don't know what's making that sound, but I will buy one.

I can't get myself to swallow an ADM, period, so I'm probably not first in line and will need to wait for the market to cool off so I can potentially pay MSRP. I'm guessing, the middle of next summer, I'll be happy I have my GTS while I wait.
By the way, didn't you just say a few days ago you were holding off for the T? ROTFLMAO

Wow, that definitely sounds NA to me, too. Especially in that last Boxster vid. Curious as to what Porsche's plan is here.

LOL. Yes. But I went to my dealer over the weekend to test drive the GTS, along with the Carrera T, and I was sold. Especially for the <$80K I was able to get them down to. For this price I could always trade it in next year, depending on availability (and final specs) of the Cayman T.

911 Template Cayman T
The 911 T, was the base model Carrera with a few weight reducing features and all the track day options as standard. No extra power. It is like a lower powered GTS with some weight reduction. No reason why Porsche would deviate from this formula for the Cayman. Based on the last iteration of the Cayman GTS and GT4, there was only about a $10k difference, so I don't think can slot another car in there.

Do we realistically think this Cayman T is a NA 4.0 in the video? That is a stark deviation from the Carrera T formula. I think a GT4 Touring would be fantastic... but is this it? Because that would make sense with a NA 4.0 and the exhaust setup, but not this. Could this possibly be the 2.5 with a reworked exhaust? It doesn't sound like it. Also, a PDK possible in GT4 Touring? That also raises more questions...

I usually don't get worked up over exhaust noise but if this is a reworked 718 Cayman S exhaust then sign me up...oops...maybe I should check the price first.....$9K Porsche option w/o new diffuser?!?!
