718 Rear (Porsche) trim removal

Does anyone know how to remove the rear trim bar below the rear spoiler? I want to paint it gloss black to hide the chrome Porsche letters. Thanks.

Heat gun on medium/low setting or hair dryer, to warm up. The use dental floss to remove letters from the car. Any residue can be removed with Goo be gone or 3M spray adhesive remover.
Removing will make the car look better, I'm not a fan or the multiple letters Porsche, it's not cool.

He is talking about removing 'P O R S C H E' from the trim piece in gloss black. Those letters can't be removed from heat gun/floss. They are embedded/grooved into the trim piece!! Really a dumb design decision! :crying: You will have to take the car in to remove that trim. Then a body shop could help with extracting those letters, fill the grooves and repaint. Please share with us if you manage to get rid of those letters. They got to go!

I experimented using plastic dip In gloss black. I sprayed the entire trim panel and then removed the plasti dip from around everything but the letters. It looks so much better that now I want to remove the entire panel and have it professionally sprayed in gloss black lacquer so that the color will be uniform on the entire panel. The result is a much cleaner look that still says Porsche in an understated way.

Please post a picture after its done. I would do anything to get that thing removed.

I didn't realize Porsche has changed how they do the lettering. On previous cars I've owned the letters/emblem were easy to remove & change.
Hadn't had a close look on at the rear on a letters on the 718.

No problem, the new chrome Porsche lettering is very pronounced and embedded into the trim panel. I experimented with plasti-dip in a gloss black and the P O R S C H E was much more subtle. I’m looking to find out how to remove the panel so I can have the entire panel professionally painted in gloss black. I think eventually Porsche will do the same thing on some of their high-performance trim levels.

I have to admit this is one of the design changes I dislike the most compared to the old 981
I can't stand that lettering !! And I love Porsche Lettering and everything Porsche....
I would think the best way to go is to do the Plasti Dip like John mentioned
Do something/ anything, to make it less pronounced :-(

Ed

The 2018 GTS models have an option that paints the PORSCHE letters in flat black from the factory. The Cayman GTS in the LA debut video has the flat black letters.

Which brings us back to the original question. Does anyone know how to remove the rear panel?

I ordered my Spyder with Black letters but decided I wanted them to match the car so I first had vinyl letters made, which were skinnier (1st pic), but I then had letters made that were the exact same size (2nd pic), painted them, and affixed them with 3M Adhesive:
