Default What do you think of a Motronic Diagnostic tool?

Up till now, if you want to diagnose a electronic problem, you have to measure the various sensors and most of the time you can waste hours with no luck.

What do you think about a product where you can log and display some of the relevant sensors and variables as seen and processed by the DME? Go back to your desk, replay the log file and monitor the variables in a meaningful way?

Such engine variables can include but not limited to: TPS, VAF/MAF voltage, Engine temps, Intake temps, RPM, O2 sensor, Boost, battery voltage... Basically the values that you would want to monitor. All in one place..

I see this as a time saving tool, easy to use.. Something that will pay for itself the first time you use it... You will not need a laptop to data log, however you will need a laptop or PC to playback?

The display will be similar (not identical) to the MMonitor display, and will have a subset of the variables seen on the following screen. Of course, the tool requires the use of the Vitesse Software in the DME. Wiring will be simple, and the price will be very reasonable.

Wow. It looks easy to use and accurate. How much would it be going for?

You see the variables as the DME sees them.. We have been using the full blown tool in house for years now. The only way to diagnose, data log and tune.

I don't have a price range yet, or a plan to make this product yet. The availability and the price will depend on the quantity...

This is your chance to voice your opinion, even on the price!

I wouldn't have this low level detail till we actually design it. The requirements are to keep it as simple as possible, that I can tell you.

It working with the other 944-series cars would make me interested, at the very least.

It will work on other 944 as long as they run the appropriate Vitesse software.
The same goes for the 911 3.2L

How universal would this be? There are zillions of cars with Motronic. People that have BMW's, Ferrari's and so forth would probably jump at something like this. They have the same problems with diagnosis that we do.

It cannot be universal as each ECU has unique characteristics. We are looking into multi-platform, if it makes sense we will design it to acomodate the various targets.

Hi Gabe, how are you? This tool would have made finding the TPS problem a no brainer... I love using the MMonitor to find intermittent problems.. The goal is to log the data then review it later.. Think about all the problems that get discussed on this forum, figuring out the cause (or eliminate possible causes) will be much simpler...

There is so much that can be done with the Motronic, I just love it when people say it's an old system.. There are so many fun and productive things to follow
