Largest Battery available
I just bought a 65 c and noticed the area defined is much larger than the battery that was in the car which is about 620 CCA. The car just barely turns over. What's the max CCA you can use in the car?

Stock battery size is 19L for 6 volt car. For several decades 356s started with 6volts easily. Your slow cranking can have many causes. First thing to do is clean both ends of the battery ground strap. You want good clean metal. Then under the car do the same with the ground strap that goes from transmission to body by the tunnel. This ground strap actually grounds the starter. Check and renew the large black cable that goes from the positive battery post to the starter. Do the same to the smaller red wire on the positive terminal that goes to the fuse box. For trouble free electrics I also recommend cleaning all wiring at fuse box. If you still have poor cranking after doing these things you may also have to clean connections at the starter. One of the reasons that a gel battery like an Optima or Oddesey works so well is that they have higher cold cranking amps CCA. NAPA brand 19L 6 volt battery has 440 CCA Interstate 19L has 525 CCA Optima red topSize 6 6 volt has 800 CCA Here is the best flow sheet for diagnosing and fixing starter woes: http://www.cyberwerkstatt.com/Member...leshooting.htm Ignition switch, starter bushing and starter can all cause the same problem as can poor wiring on light switch which has a hot wire from there to the ignition.
