New to this part of the forum
I have been lurking here on rennlist for years in the 997 and 991 forums as well as the racing part of the forums.
Our family has owned our 1962 356 for 30 years.
I dont know squat about these cars and I am trying to understand more about them.
Other than maybe 356 registry how can I get more info on this sucker.
How do I determine if this is a super 90?
This may even be a really dumb question but how do you determine if it is a numbers matching.

Roadsters were built by Drauz and D'Ieieren. Twin grill by D'Ieteren only. http://forum.porsche356registry.org/...2175&mode=view S90 engine is determined by engine number. Kardex or COA will help determine if engine is original. Tachometer and camber compensator would also help. Kardex can be obtained from Marco @ elevenparts.com in Switzerland

And here is the 356 Registry VinDb on your car: https://porsche356registry.org/chass...&commit=Search If 700764 is the original engine number then it is NOT an S90 and someone just added the badge. Your D'Ieteren badge may also be not original. Car was Ivory 6204A with red interior.. Kardex will give you as it left the factory details http://www.stoddard.com/64470110600-nla.html here is the badge you can buy and stamp any way you want to.

The book entitled "Original Porsche 356", by Laurence Merideth is good book to explore the various changes and updates through the years. Engines and other options are also discussed. Unfortunately this book has been out of print for a while pushing the book itself to collector status. Price is reflected by this but there are still some out there that are reasonable.

thank you so far for the info. I am trying to sign up to 356 registry but there is a glitch in there system. I cant see the VinDb stuff on the car, yet.
How do you dig up the kardex info??

Chassis number 89717 is a 1962 356 roadster (T6 B) by D'Ieteren (built in 1961).
This car was originally fitted with an engine as follows:
Type: 616/1 T6 (1600), with a serial number between 606801 and 607750.
Type: 616/12 T6 (1600 S), with a serial number between 700001 and 701200.
Type: 616/7 T6 (1600 S-90), with a serial number between 804001 and 804630.

My Bad Drauz did build single grill Roadsters but all Dual grill were D'Ieteren . I will edit my other post for correct info. Here is some of the info from the VinDb: I do not guarantee it is correct:Chassis

A body builder named Drauz built the first Roadsters. Some time in 1961 D'Ieteren in Belgium took over production.
Common wisdom is that there were 248 T-6 Roadsters built, although the serial number range (89601-89849) suggests 249.
The only way to know for sure what model it is (60 hp, 75, or 90) is to get information from Porsche. (A few people who don't work for Porsche seem to have copies of the old records or subrosa access to them.)
Until just recently, you could buy a Certificate of Authenticity from Porsche which listed original colors, optional equipment, and engine and transmission numbers. But Porsche's policy has changed. Now it will only confirm the correctness of numbers you provide- it won't tell them to you. The intent of the new policy is no doubt to cut down on fraudulent restamping.
If camchain's information is accurate, the original engine was a Super (75 hp).
6211 is the paint code for signal red.
In case you don't know, your car is very valuable- the most valuable pushrod 356 after Speedsters. At a Monterey auction last month, a '62 Roadster sold for $506K. No surprise, that car was beautifully restored by one of the top shops.
