Old Transmission ID?

Can someone please help me identify this part? Is it Porsche? If so, any idea on year and specs?

We can't pull any numbers off of it

If it is 356, there will be a fill hole towards the front on passenger side, and right near it should be a serial number (not the same as the VIN/Chassis Number)
