Default specific factory paint question

Hello 356 gang. I have a question I'm posting for a friend who is doing a very thorough restoration of is A coupe. forgive my ignorance, its been a while since I've familiarized myself with these cars. Doing my best to describe what he's looking for..
His car is Heron Gray. He is interested in the area inside the car, underneath the leather dash cover, where the defrosters are located on the chassis. When the dash cover is layed in place there is approximately 1" of metal that is visible. What color was this area painted from the factory? Is there a specific paintcode for it?

Thanks, Ben

the best place to post this question is...
http://356registry.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=1
... a site (& org) your friend should be quite familiar with. I suspect the answer will be something like "just use Wurth matt black". for instance... http://www.nlaparts.com/store/wurth-...ack-p-669.html
good luck!
