Default $95K for '65 SC Cab?

I have been watching a just-concluded E-Bay auction on an apparently nicely restored Cab. It is described as a bare-metal restoration, all-new everything, everything works, etc. Only acknowledged flaw was a non-original steering wheel. $95K was the winning bid. Is that a tad on the high side?

Cab Prices are all over the place. If it were restored to 100 point Concours condition and thats what someone wants to do with the car and most importantly is willing to pay that for it, I'd say yes. It probably cost the person who did the ground up restoration of the car that much and more to completely do it right. Would we pay that for a SC Cab? No.

EC just sold a Conv. D for $100,000.00. That is what what nice but not perfect Speedsters are going for.

I'm telling you, It's just CRAZY NUTS out there !!!!!!!!

EC also recently sold a 64 SC cab in restored condition, with numbers matching drivetrain but not CoA colors for $100k. I believe the SC on ebay this week was also not CoA colors as it was described as "period correct" colors, so yes that is market value in today's world. If only 993 coupes would appreciate at that rate

That was a beautiful, close to perfect car at EC. It could not be shown in Full Concours Preservation Class unless it 100% matched the COA, but could be shown in Full Concours Rerstoration Class in that the color was correct for that year. Did the car on Ebay say it was a numbers matching car?

993's can't go up like that for another what? 30 years or so??

Hey JoAnne,

was that blue period correct? I wasn't sure. My father-in-law would have bought that car if CoA correct. Anyway, he did get the fax CoA on the ebay, but I haven't seen it yet. the auction stated "period correct colors" so I took that to mean that it wasn't CoA since he said numbers matching engine. Of course if it was originally that Togo Brown, I could see it being worth more in red!

are y'all thinking of attending the Eureka Springs event in Nov? Don't forget Renntreffen in Osage Beach this September! www.kcws.org for info

Togo Brown..... Yucky................. one of my least favorite colors that and Sepia Brown. To each his own I guess.......

We are going to the West Coast Holiday in Colorado so we can't do the Osage Beach event too.

If we are still living in R Can Saw in November I think we'll be going to PCA-Palooza (they had to changee the name from Porschepalooza) in Eureka Springs. It's too close to NOT go to that one!!!

The blue cars are going thru a popular stage right now. It seems that right everyone wants the blue cars. At Dana Point last year all the dark blue cars were winning all the Concours awards. A few years back everyone wanted cars that were Stone Grey. Anyway, even in the old days there were special ordered colors...... I'm going to pull the charts and get back to you.

BALI BLUE!!!! That's the dark blue color I was thinking of.

YUP!!!! Bali Blue was a special color in 1964 and 1965

Chances are it was repainted in a Period correct color, but wasn't on the CoA as the original color. Told you BLUE is popular now. Who knows tomorrow!!!

ok, if I drive the 993 to S Dakota this year and line the rear with pheasants, I will change my avatar - last year I drove Jessi's BMW part way and rode in to the camp with a buddy. I just think its funny to have a Porsche photo at a hunt club

The E-bay car was described as #'s matching. The seller stated that the person he bought it from "represented that it had been rebuilt" and that he, the seller, had since "fully detailed" the engine. Big deal. For $95K I'd expect a bit more than that.
