Historics at Laguna Seca
I had a great time at the Historics with my son so I wanted to share a few pictures.

Nice pics Eric.
Looks like it was fun.
Several r-listers will be running their 356s at the Zippo at the Glen in Watkins Glen in a couple of weeks. Will be sure to post pics.

It was also at the Porsche Parade in Hershey for it's unveiling. Beautiful restoration.

I had the pleasure to view closely this great car at the Monterey Pre-Historics (and Historics) two weekends ago. It was on display at the Canepa corral. I had read the article regarding it in "Excellence" and was surprised to see it on display so soon after receiving the magazine. The excellently written and photographed article emphasized the effort to keep it as original as possible to include the thickness and type of the metal, the equipment used, and the use of various types of wooden bucks. It does look "original" to my inexperienced eye. The paint was definately not the glossy two stage that we use today. It has more of a yellow appearance. I just loved the lettering and advertisement. The brush marks are quite evident, although very well painted. It reminded me of the old frosted glass door signs for doctors and lawyers that the master painters used to do when I was a kid. I simply loved the car and felt it was the most significant car there. Unfortunately, it was not available for the Laguna Seca Historics the next week. I was informed that it was on display at several of the concourse events.
FYI the Pre-Historics at Laguna Seca are the weekend before the Historics. The Pre-Historics are free for the past two years. Ther had been an issue in past years of restricting admittance because of insurance or whatever, but the people that be have worked that issue out. IMHO, the Pre-Historics are much more user friendly than the following week. There are much fewer people and the cars are quite similar. The owners and drivers do not have the pressure on them and can spend more time with we neophites answering our dumb questions. Also, the average human can afford a motel room in the area for that weekend. The rooms are impossible to get the next for anything considered reasonable, and then with reservations months in advance.
Try it, you'll like it. For the cost savings, you can spend several more casual days on the Monterey Peninsula eating great food and sucking down a couple gallons of wine. Don't forget to take the ride out the Carmel Valley road and connecting south to highway 101, then onto highway 198 and past the Pinnicles Monument and Priest Valley. One of the truely great driving experiences in the world, but do not include the gallons of wine before leaving on the trek!
