Emory Outlaw on BaT

Wow can't believe the post your photo thread that we started is still alive!

Just saw this on Bring a Trailer.
Emory 356 Outlaw with a current bid of $550,000.

We really should have kept our Emory 356.

There's lots of photos of our Emory '55 in this thread but here's another one with Peter Porsche talking to me about the car.

Out of curiosity what does it cost to have Emory just build what you want? 700K seems steep. Maybe it's just me.

RJT 06-21-2023 04:40 PM

Probably 4-500K with several years waiting list.

They are a work of art that you can drive.
Comparable in a way to a Singer 911 only a 356 instead.

WOW!

Ralph!!!!
We are doing great. Living in Hot Springs AR now.

We were at a 356 Registry Holiday and were in "Helga" with about 200 other 356s and a guy walked up and asked if our car was a 12 volt. Uhhh yeah.
He looked a little closer and said he bought it new in Germany in '65 while in the Air Force!
We talked a lot that day and he said if I ever want to sell it he would love to have it back. I told him he would definitely be the one to get her if I were to sell.
About 6 years later we found the Emory Outlaw (the photo above) and I had to have it. But.... to buy it we would have to sell Helga.
Seriously, that night we got an email from the guy just checking in to see if we wanted to sell the '65!!!
A little spooky.
We made the deal and off it went back to Huntington Beach to the original owner. It now runs a Wilhoit 2.1 twin plug screamer.
We also found out that Helga had an extremely rare option that I wasn't aware of. The factory installed inside/outside temp gauge mounted above the radio next to the clock. At the 50th anniversary at Monterey it was the only 356 with that option out of hundreds of 356s.
Another wonderful Porsche we should have kept.
So cool to hear from you!

BTW we are on Porsche number 25 now. 🤪

So good to hear from you. Very cool that Helga went back to her original owner, what are the odds on that. Every time I see a red 65 356 for sale, I always check the dash for the rare temp gauge.
Wow, 25 Porsches! Glad you two are still having such a good ride.

Here's our current Porsche, 2021 992. In a perfect world I'd have a 356 parked next to her :)

Take care!

Beautiful 992!

We have had 4 356s including a '55 Speedster that we sold to Nicolas Cage (another one that we REALLY should have kept).
Now a 997 hot rod that may be the last one.... but I have said that many times before!

J is still working and I've been retired for 15 years.
I stay busy building Porsche dioramas that I sell at Porsche Palooza every November in Eureka Springs AR.
400 Porsches and 600+ people show up every year.

I was in Colorado Springs this past week and they had just received a Rod Emory Outlaw. I was really impressed with the details and it was fun to compare against the 3 other 356's they had there.
