PPI in Vermont
I am looking at purchasing a 1961 356 from a gentleman in Vermont and need a recommendation to someone who can complete a PPI for me. I'll be buying the car sight unseen as I am in California and can't fly out to Vermont in the near future. This will be my first 356. Would really like to get a set of eyes on it as the car seems to be in good condition and set up ideally for my intended use as a driver. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Was this car on Craigslist recently? Is I the the Super Karmann hardtop?
|
This is a Notchback and could be the same car. I don’t know if it was on Craigslist, but I saw it on Bring A Trailer and EBay. I contacted the owner directly after the eBay auction. Do you know the car? Thanks.

Yes a notchback. Saw it at Parade a few years ago and happened to meet the guy who rebuilt the motor several weeks ago. He really knows that car well.

Make sure you get someone who knows the bodies of these cars well. My 356 looked like it was straight and solid, but lots can be hidden underneath. Someone who really knows these cars can hopefully spot some of the signs.

Will do. Thanks for the heads up.

Rick Cabell in South Burlington is famous for his work with early 911's. I bet he is plugged in to the 356 world around there too. His shop is Eurotech.

David Fromer lives is Stowe Vermont, His email is oddjob@stowe.nu, This is what he does for a living very well certified to work on/ inspect a 356. Even used to race I believe.

Thanks for the recommendations everyone. Ended up using Restoration & Performance Motorcars for the PPI. They did a great job and a tremendous help.
