Default What hot tire pressure for 19" MPS tires at DE?

A question for those of you that have stock 19" Michelin Pilot Sport tires and use your 997S for DE's. What HOT tire pressure do you shoot for in fronts and rears at most DE's??

Thanks Pug. That helps a lot. I don't think there are many 997's that are being tracked yet, so not much exparience out there. But info from PDE should be very reliable.
Do you know if they added any negative camber front or rear from stock setting??

I started the day with cold pressure F=35 and R=40. After 20 minutes of runtime on a very warm day (95+ degrees) pressure went up to F=40 and R=45. The tires worked well. Good luck and have fun out there.

This is one of the more critical numbers in racing, and it will take your own experimentation on your tracks and your set up to determine what is optimal. You will easily get a dozen answers from ten people here. I suggest that you buy a surface temp thermometer and on a small sheet of paper start to keep track of your tire temps. Each tire should be checked in three places,--the center of the tread, the inside third of the tread, and the outside third. Keep track of those numbers during the day until you fine tune the car for that track and those tires. I wouldn't really count on the TPMS for racing applications,--you need a real gauge. Once you come to trusting the TPMS read outs then perhaps you can dispense with the gauge.

The TPMS on my car at PDE ran 46 /48. However, my suggestion to you is to start at the Porsche recommended pressures, then bleed them down after each of your run sessions. I have found that 40 (hot) in the front and 44 (hot) in the rear works best for me. At those pressures the tires were firm but not slippery.

Be careful on the drive home from the track, your tire pressures will drop to the low 30's, unless you somehow continue your track driving speeds on the highway (unlikely). You will need to add air to get back to the recommended street temperatures.

Good luck at your DE!!

I agree with lawjdc. I was at a track event recently and kept the tire pressure 38-40 front and 44 rear throughout the event.

This is good to know because with the recommended pressure I regularly hit 49 on the rears and sometimes even see 50 - 51 after I've been driving for about 30 minutes which just seems way too high to me. I'm starting to think the recommended pressure is too high which is why so many people are seeing simple things like broken road reflectors puncturing their tires.
