What color is this, please?
As a newbie/wannabe I thought I could learn something by volunteering to help Chuck with the 928 registry. What I've learned is that I don't know the names for a lot of the colors.
.
Thanks

Looks like Veneziablau (Venice Blue or Venetian Blue) to me, but I could be wrong. Check my avatar or my registry entry and see what you think.
the oz site doesn't have it, that seems pretty clear. Bill, if you think it looks like yours I guess I'll call it Venice Blue and footnote the uncertainty.
icsmike, its not mine btw - just a random 83 I found on the internet with a vin so it can go in the registry.
Thanks

Hi Bill,
The WSM's show Veneziablau (Venice Blue Metallic) to start in 87.
Funny this thread would come up today because I am having my new GTS QTR's painted on Monday, and have run into a problem with this paint code.
Problem is that in 87 (first year of Venice Blue Metallic) Porsche shows "2" paint codes for the color "36P" and "35U" (BTW, this is the only instance of 2 codes for one color in the entire production of the car). From 1988 on, Venice Blue is just "36P".
I originally thought that both #'s together meant one code, but not so. My B-shop was checking the paint codes and their formulas today, and they are definitely two different colors of Venice Blue Metallic. Very similar, but different. The difference may be visible!
So after checking on this with Porsche today, all I have is that most likely the color Venice Blue Metallic was changed slightly at some time in production in 87, and the only way to find out if you are 35U, or 36P is to mix both, and spray test cards. After comparison you can tell.
If you are 1988+, it is 36P.
Bill, you are early production 87, so i would assume you would be 35U, but it would be nice to know.
Cheers,
Michael
