Default Wanted to Rent: Rear Wheel Bearing Puller

Would someone be kind enough to rent me their ArnnWorx(or similar) bearing puller/installer for a couple of weeks? My wheel bearings are shot.

I've read several posts that state if one heats the control arm and puts the bearing in the freezer that the bearing slides right in....no press needed.....but I really don't want to take the chance.

That really works. What chance would you be taking?

But I still used the proper press to remove the old bearing.

That I would get the car disassembled and not have the proper tool on hand(if I needed it).

Red1....so I assume you don't have the tool to rent me??

If you disassemble the car, you dont need the puller. The only reason you need the puller is if you try to remove and install the new bearing w/o removing the trailing arm from the car.

That sounds like it'd take a lot longer than it should.

With the proper puller I had this job done in an easy afternoon. I work very slow yet this was one of the quickest things I've ever done on a 944.

MWC - I have the tool in Northern VA if you would like to borrow it (not rent, as you are a paid RL member and we share in this community). Let me know where in WV you are and we can work something out. PM me some details.

Thanks for the offer, I'll let you know.
Once you get them back in, I'll buy one.
I assume this tool will work on my A4 as well.

Didnt mean to come across as patronizing, but from your posts talking about disassembling the car and questioning whether the puller was needed, it was not clear to me that you understood.

Bruce, just curious as to why you took it off the site? I was dreading the procedure till i found the tool you made, then saw it wasnt available..was happy to know the person who told me about it has one i can borrow semi-locally. But like all things id like to have one for myself.

I'd definitely be buying one if Bruce had them available (Bruce...that's a plea by the way).

Hey Bruce, I'll buy a puller too if that will help get some more made. Let me know.

I inquired to Amnworx about buying the tool. Bruce told me one of
his vendors rasied their rates substantially for a component used
in his tool. He also communicated to me that he is in process
of sourcing other vendors, but it could take a while.
